Omega General Help / Re: Water in footwell
« on: 08 December 2006, 00:51:56 »
Like The Barge Captain says, it could be two seperate faults,

The leaking HBV can be a tricky one to catch, as in my experience it can only leak when the system is cold and then again the other way around, only when hot, when pressurised..

As for the scuttle drain. Try pooring water into the area were the pollen filter is located, once you have removed the grill.  But not on the filter, Making sure that you miss it and direct it away past the filter into the gap toward the front of the car well away from it. If it fills up, then that is a seperate issue. Your drain is blocked.

Then look again at the HBV

Other members correct me if I have discibed this badly please.

Omega General Help / Re: Interior lights on facelift estates?
« on: 07 December 2006, 17:13:42 »
Hi Guys

Checked the lights in the grab rail in the rear of the CDX estate 03.

There is a 3 position switch next to the light, 1-Off completley, 2-comes On when individual rear door opens, 3- On constantly.

You can easily reach back and switch the offside one on from the drivers seat, but supose you wouldnt want to do that if you had a stranger in the back. :-/

Just got a CDX 03 estate, it has lights up by the grab rails and kerb lights in doors. all appear to be triggerd by the door opening.

Not checked how the switch works but I can check if its any help.

I think perhaps its the differance between CD and CDX, Elite?

Would have thought it could be moded.

Omega General Help / Re: Power steering Query

Cheers Guys  :y

For your comments, I'll check tyre pressure.

Yes I am being a bit lazy, trying to turn before moving. That did cross my mind, but the strange thing is the prefacelift doesnt do it at all and never has. :-/

I was just a bit concerned I had a problem on the way, but it sounds like it is fairly common.

Thanks again for your input :y

Omega General Help / Power steering Query
« on: 29 November 2006, 01:07:27 »
Hi Guys

Hope you can put my mind at rest. :-/

I have driven an S reg 2 ltr diesel estate for over 5 years now (great car) and have just recently bought a 2003 2.2 Diesel estate (Facelift). I am made up with it, but there are a few differances between the cars that I am not sure are normal.

The one I'd like to ask you about being.

When I reverse the 2.2 off the drive and put full lock on while reversing to line up with the road and then start to straighten the steering to go forward from full lock. There is quit a bit of resistance for a second or two before the power steering lightens up.

It work perfect otherwise, but I dont have and never have had this with the older car.

Is this normal or have I got a power steering problem? that could go worse

Any help would be appriciated.

A daft question I know, but have you checked the air is actually coming out of the screen vents only, at full fan and the the heat is turned up and working?

Also have you checked there is no buld up of water in the scuttle area under the pollen filter?

« on: 24 November 2006, 01:47:01 »
Had this problem before on my 98 GLS, Assuming it isnt connected with other prob'.

even more simple, possible just getting a bit old and rusty.

Try a bit of 3 in 1 on the key, insert it, wiggle it about and give it time to penatrate.

Worked for me :y

It's amazing how a bit of lubricant, can get thing going again. [smiley=shocked.gif]

Omega General Help / Hand Brake Problem
« on: 21 November 2006, 17:35:50 »
Hi Guys

Can anyone help me, my S reg pre face lift estate, has had a near non existant hand brake for a while now. Travels all the way with hardly any effect. The garage were ment to fix it at the MOT about 9 month ago. It worked to a fashion for a month or two then back to normal.

I've been told that the hand brake pads are a completly seperate item to the foot brake, is this correct? Also is it a big job?

Any advice would be appreciated. :y

Can't give you advice on the gas.

But on your other tack, Omega every time, I use mine for work.My mate keeps on saying get a van. I say why should I spend all day in a noisy cold, boring van, when I can sit in an near armchair in comfort, with all this luxury around me. :y and you can get a 3 m length of copper in, saving having to tie it to the roof rack. ;D
