General Car Chat / Re: P38 Range Rover advice
« on: 27 December 2013, 19:03:07 »
I love Range Rover's, but I always shudder at the thought of a P38. I've had 5 or 6, but only passing through. EAS faults and electrical gremlins would be my concern. The 4.0 does seem to be the most robust engine though. I would personally go for a '51' or '02' to preserve as much value as possible. Now that the ropey L322's are £4,000...prices for P38's have dropped.
I've got the Land Rover Microcat system, so if you want to know original build spec, extra's etc, just PM me the VIN  :y

It was an excellent evening, thanks to all  :y

Congratulations! All you need now, is to get the trusty Omega Haynes manual out as bed time stories...as we all know some of it is pure fiction.
Seriously, I do hope you and Emma have a great Christmas with Isobel  :)

It must be said though TB, this is the ideal vehicle for you;
76bhp and the best part of 2.8 tonnes.
I always enjoyed driving this, it was painfully slow but you can't beat an armoured van  :o

I agree TB & Tunnie!
The SC was a great car, but it managed on average 19mpg and having the 400bhp made it easy to overtake most things. Whereas the TD6, it simply can't do that...and you can drive far more sedately. I thought Jaime was having a heart attack, he was driving that slowly  ::)
The SC, with tinted windows does look a bit drug dealer...this was the one you'd driven;

It was an 07/07, it turned out the alternator was a bit naff, gearbox had odd signals and was very slow. All fixed, and then was suprisingly brisk!

Tunnie....    ....But I'm sure there's something I can tempt you with a drive of over the Christams period.
May I recommend a certain S-line auto with sequential autobox?  I doubt tunnie would notice its performance diffiencies :P

Haha, he may find it too fast  :o

Sold now though. He can have a Grand Vitara, Sharan TDI, Volvo S60, multiple Range Rover's or x2 Arnage's.

I don't know how well 6.75's take to LPG, I think the PPM would be scary  ::)

Ok, will do! If you need help I can be with you for 3ish if needed? But, I'll call you!
Yep lift is no problem, and for anyone else...there'll be plenty of space in the car!

Tunnie - I haven't updated my website for like 9 months now  ;D
I'll be bringing the '03 Omega unmarked saloon. But I'm sure there's something I can tempt you with a drive of over the Christams period.

Damn, and I was looking forward to fiddling around with yet more extra wires in the bloody thing  :y

Thanks Al!

A question to anyone with an ex police Omega, or early GLS!

Is it simple plug and play to retrofit the rear interior courtesy light(s)...or is extra loom required?

As in, the following item;

General Car Chat / Re: Remote Engine Start... any opinions?
« on: 04 December 2013, 20:04:07 »
Why not fit a ramar devil / runlock system as fitted to police vehicles?

Start the car, activate the runlock...take the ignition key out, re-insert ignition key when you're ready to go...and drive off. If the brake pedal is depressed, or the handbrake disengaged, the system will cut the engine.

It's not 'remote' but would probably be the only method I would consider, unless you get a fuel burning heater?
