Yep Its the Head Gasket Mate  :( I bet its Number One Pot that has gone.

It cost me about £300 to get the Head Gasket Done Including A Head Skim and all the Bits and Bobs like Anifreeze.

How many Miles is on your dads 2.2 Tunnie ?  Was The Coolent Flushed and Changed Every 2 Years Odd ?

Sorry To say Tunnie Sounds Exactly the same as what mine was like :(

Heres is one to try make sure the Header tank is full run engine for abit then leave it over night if it misfires when starting and then clears after acouple of revs then its the head gasket.

Water leaks into one of the pots causing the misfire on startup after standing over night the engine quickly burns off the water.

get sniffing the header tank.

I had loss of coolent oil was fine dipstick was fine as the head Gasket had gone between the coolent and pot.

The HVB you cant miss it get under the Steering Box and its stright up and on the left hand side

I bought a bottle of Autoglym Cleaner and a bottle of Autoglym Feeder and I was really happy with the end result it got rid of the shine to the leather and dulled it down nicely

I have thanks Matchless

I was wanting to lossen the bolts off and try something i have read something on the darkside that mark wrote.

Interestingly TIS actualy states a remedy for this condition....

Complaint - Noises and Vibrations, sqeeking noises under cold and wet weather conditions.

Cause - Tension on steering column

Solution - relieve the stress on the steering column by loosening and re-fastening the tube attachment screws.

So basicaly what Vauxhall are saying is remove your steering column shroud and open the fuse box cover, slacken off the securing bolts that hold the main column outer tube (normaly two at the top - one is normaly a sheer type so may not be able to slacken and one at the bottom of the tube). Then rotate the steering from stop to stop twice and re-fasten.

Omega General Help / Re: Why did my car die on me ???????
« on: 01 August 2007, 11:18:00 »
I hope you were not waiting to change the cambelt at 80.000 like VX say for its first change as they did change there minds and say 40.000 or 4 years.

I would be very very surprised if there is no valve damage if the belt went when you were doing 30 Mph.

You just cant trust VX bunch of muppets

Dont worry about the air bag as long as you follow the rules of diconnecting the battery  with in 15 seconds of turning the key and removing it and leaving the car for 5 odd mins for the charge to vanish and the air bag will be fine, Dont reattach the battery until the airbag is all pluged back in or you will get the airbag light on
