Omega General Help / Re: Victor Reinz gaskets.

Not heared of them.

Done both my V6 and My Dad's Desmond, and used Genuine GM ones without any issues.

Prep is key, and from memory don't forget to check seating of half moon at the back as can move slightly when messing about.

Good luck.

Yep, put a full ETS one (from the bay of Flea) on my MFL 2.5 and very happy.

Went for the 3.0 one as now got the twin pipes at the back  :y

My local garage where I get her MOT'ed offered to fit it for £20, so I snapped their arm off and said do the MOT was well !!!

Sounds the best it has been as the 1st replacement one I got was a vauxhall one and that seemed to even quieter than the original (and had car from new).

ETS one seems to have give her the V6 Growl back.

Omega General Help / Re: Very simple Q - wiper blade arms
« on: 22 November 2019, 20:26:08 »
Having reorganised the garage floor of bits from my dis pack removal task, and ahead of any refit in the future, can someone with a pre-facelift look at their car sometime for me to see which wiper arm is which please.

I *think* the one with the kink is the o/s arm and the straight arm n/s, but I'd like to confirm ahead.

Thanks.

 ;D ;D  I guess I had a beer  ;D ;D

Just checked my Mini-Facelift, and yes one with kink Passenger or O/S and straight arm drivers or N/S (this is from the hinge but you fold up).

The drivers one appears to have a double kink however at the spline or base end and passenger one a single kink at spline end if that helps.
Tother way around, drivers is offside.

Omega Gallery / MOT DAY - Old Girl Flew Threw :)
« on: 15 November 2019, 19:27:32 »
MOT Day today for my V6 Manual baby  :-\

The old girl flew through as she always does with NO advisories.  And a whooping 1200 miles in last year (65k now on clock  :y) - I must take it easy on her  ;D

20 years old in January  :y

I guess owning her from new, and keeping her in a heated garage pays off  :y

All tucked up under her duvet again in the warm now poor baby.

You can refurbish the headlight lenses easily enough with very fine wet and dry and G3 rubbing compound.

Requires about 15 minutes elbow grease each side :y

Obviously mask the surrounding body work when  you use the wet and dry  ;)

Yep, done this a couple of times on my dads FL Desmond.  Can also pop the light off as well - Relatively easy if i recall.

I had a lead a few years ago - was the oil cooler plate.  Used to drip at the back of the bell housing and drip off the very bottom where there are a couple of bolts. Only did it when started to cool down after 20 mins or so (assumption being some things stayed warmer for longer !)

Clean up and new gasket/seal and jobs a good en, with new Dowty washers just in case.

Hope you get it sorted.

Omega General Help / Fuel filter change (V6) - Any advice ?
« on: 28 March 2019, 14:21:12 »
Hi all,

Been a few years since I did the fuel filter, so though whilst I do oil and oil filter would do the fuel filter as a treat   :D

I have seen a few stories of broken clips/pipes, so before I tackle any advice or tips on removing and installing to save it ending in disaster  :o

I have ordered a GM one 'With Clips' it said  ;)

Thanks all.
Andy.

Many thanks.  Mine is a year 2000 one, last few I think before the Facelift versions so yep assume they changed.

I'll keep my eye out for a good switch as I can at least mess with that one before I prod about with the one on the car  :y
A new one should be easy enough to come by... Used on most Vauxhalls of that age :y

:y  I'll give the Stealer a try next week.

I had a quick look around the Interweb but could only find used ones which looked a bit shabby, unless you know anywhere with new ones ?

Part number I converged on was 90363307 which I assume is right.

Cheers,
Andy.

Many thanks.  I may give it a go.  The mirrors are definitely heated (Icon is on the glass and they do clear when rear screen on) but never had LED on the switch  :-\  (Had car from new, so I know its not been changed)
