Omega General Help / Re: DEPO or HELLA headlamps

I'm still contemplating buying a new pair of headlamps. I popped into my local parts shop yesterday to have a look at the original equipment ones, Hella. It seemed very plasticy and very lightweight and sort of wondered, can the ones made by DEPO in Taiwan be much worse.

Does anyone have any experience of the ones made by DEPO and whether they are OK to buy and install?

A new headlamp HELLA supplied by GM cost about GBP 300 here.  You can get both DEPO's for about 400 euros.

I have got the depo ones on my car. They cost me £75 each (staff sale) They seem to be ok I haven't had any problems with them.

also......got the replacement thermostat, a couple of sealing ring for the oil cooler and water bridge.....but cant get hold of gaskets and "o" rings for the inlet manifold and plenum.....!!!!
is it worth putting it all back without new gaskets or "o"rings???

N

Yes put it all back together. You don't really need 'O' rings for the inlet manifold to plenum unless you have lost them or they are damaged.

Did you take anything off that would cause the light to come on? If so just take to the garage and get them to turn it off or if you live near one of the Admi team you can ask them to do it.

What's the temp gauge reading when driving along, say on the motorway? Maybe worth reflushing the heater matrix again fully. Are the two hoses going through the bulkhead both hot?

Check tyre presure's, are the wheels balanced? Do you have any tyres that are wearing on the inside or outside? Are any of your wheels buckled or out of shape? Check these first it's all trail and error. Discs warped?

10/40 vaux semi syn  :y

daft question but how does the grade work with the thickness ?? :-[
[/highlight]

I think its something like 10 is the thickness it is and the 40 is temp it is ok to as -40 i think. Someone else will be along soon to give accurate  info

Paul :y

P.s I need to typr quicker :-[

I always thought the numbers related to the viscocity of the oil at operating and room temp. So 10/40 would be thinner than 15/40 at operating temp but the same when cold.  I could be mistaken though

I can't quite remember either gaffers ::)

Yes 15/40 is thicker than 10/40. Did you check the crankcase breather tube was clear?

Paul :y

Did you use a new gasket on the breater tube that bolts on the crankcase at the back?
