I'd love to go through police driver training.  ......I think, provided they don't ask me to talk, or multi task stuff. ......" SHUT UP I'M BUSAAAAY "

Yes I know the passenger does the radio stuff, but even so.

i like fords full stop. easy to work on and maintain and theyve got some handsome cars. the mundane-o! awesome looking.

ma's ford fusion (touch wood) has been so reliable. love it  :y

They do handle well.  :) including the focus. ::)

Ime though, they simply can't rack up the miles like an omega. :-\

Ahem!  I took SWMBO's Mk1.5 Focus for some tyres earlier (128k) and although it's only a 1.6, and is reguarly low on oil, is goes like a bat out of hell on B roads.  If I were to put myself in the focus and my (exceptionally fast) Saab.... on the twisties, I'd feel better in the Focus.

A Roads.... no contest.

The earlier Focus, before it got bloated was and still is an exceptional car to drive.

I don't think the Mondeo had anything over the Vectra.  Both had massive amounts of understeer and lift-off oversteer. Great fun if you knew what was going to happen, not so good if you didn't.

You are joking, right B ? The ride is far better in the mondeo for a start.

...anyway, this truck.... ;D

Your Dad's Mondeo probably went on for another 50k after you.  :y

I wouldn't base that opinion on just one example though Tig. I've seen a few since. :)

Oh yeah, while the handling was good, imo of course, it was not as stable as the omega at higher speeds or in cross winds. Maybe the weight differance? :-\

True Chris. but wouldnt that mainly be down to the big engine in the omega not really breaking a sweat....as opposed to the smaller 1.6-1.8's seen getting a thrashing?  :-\

My Dads old 2.0 mk 1 Mondeo was worn out by the time he handed it down to me. 95k on the clock, engine mounts, clutch, gear box, gear linkage, exhaust mount,  interior all buggered. Sold it 5k later.
Although to be fair it drove straight. Good chassis and handling. Brakes where wicked, although couldn't take prolonged abuse, but what stock set up does...?

I see why people like them, tbh. But longevity.... Nah.

I don't care what that eejit admin says. Paint them.

Vastly reduces the amount of rust, which kills them long before the wear depth and the minimum thickness of the disk is reached.

What sort of paint would you use Chris?

Good to see you around mate :y

De grease, then Heat resistant. There are rattle cans suitable. It won't last forever obviously, but delays the start of the rust process long enough to get the best out of them.

Obviously if the discs are already treated/painted with a rust deterant, like my 360mm phaeton discs for example  8) , then there's no need to bother. ....hopefully. Time will tell. :)

Gm discs are not treated. Others may well be, I haven't looked into omega ones.

Don't ny worry Al, I'm expecting similar when we loose to the Arse on Monday night.  ;D

Villa Park saw similar scenes when Utd beat Arsenal In the year of the trebble. Utd fans invaded the pitch. But from what I saw of the media coverage there was a suggestion that it was no more than pure jubilation.

Today seemed mostly similar. But with a  more sinister element. Seats thrown etc.  Well before the end of the match.  Their own fans, at they're own ground, after there own side won.(  ;) )I find that most ..... odd. :-\

I wonder if The Boys in blue are restricted to less than 120mph on a call out?

Yep, of course we have rules!!!

Even Advanced drivers can only go 20 mph above red ringed speed limits, in nationals we can make progress when we are able to, same for motorways. We are scrutinized a lot more than people think, all the cars are fitted with black boxes like those in aircraft which record everything, every siren operation, blue light, brake, indicator. I've know quite a few who have come unstuck through this. When we go through speed traps above the 20 limit we are liable to having authorities revoked & prosecution.

Yes I was referring to the scenario quoted. I.e. nationals.

So no then. If I understand your reply correctly re training etc. :)

Which doesn't suprise me in the least, is I've seen them making progress in such circumstances, clearly in excess of that figure. Dry, clear with no traffic Etc etc.

....point is the circumstances do exist where a vehichle can travel at those speeds on a public highway, and we should drive with that In mind imo.

Many an unexpecting wobble over into lane 3 with the righteous mind that nothing should be doing more than 70. (Or do so deliberately in the face of something doing alot more than 70.)Which is true, obviously the limit is 70.., however the reality is, as said. There are vehicles that legally do considerably more than the limit. And those that do so illegally. Neither legal or illegal makes a blind bit if differance when your dead as a result. Dead is dead and that's that.

So use that wing mirror. :)

That was all really.

Done three and not yet renewed the seals :-\

Sorry, I should have said, you will probably get away without renewing the seals, which do cost a few pence, but if you don't it will only be another job to replace them and the cost of another re-charge. :y

Sorry. I thought we where talking about the atf connecting block to the gear box oil cooler...? :-\

Anybody doing 120 mph on a duel carriageway is a cock and deserves to be locked up  >:(

Its not about how good / fast your car is or how good a driver you are, its about the other muppets who are on the road.

I don't give a toss who you think you are, at 120 mph on a 2 duel carriageway and given the driving standards of today, there is no way on earth you can avoid a pile up if something goes wrong or some muppet does something stupid in front of you  >:(

5 year ban and 6 full months inside on soap duty with Big Winston  ;D ;D

Now how do I apply to be a magistrate  :D :D

I wonder if TheBoys in blue are restricted to less than 120mph on a call out?

Clarkson's Raptor P150(?) pick up has got to me. I want one. I want.... A Ford....   :-[ :-X

I don't really. Too big. Wrong hand drive. Too expensive. ....Impressive though. And yes I know the trucks don't need to pass the same crash tests as the cars. But it was impressive in that environment. And that engine noise. Ooooohohooooo. :y

That's not a sector in which they should be playing with their overpriced goods. Too much competition on that count already. ;D

Well this is it. If when it flops, they'll just throw more money at advertising. Not even buying one will make it stop.  :'(
