Re-attached the roller garage double door whose screws went AWOL. Replaced them with low profile head screws instead of the bolt headed originals. It is now nice and quiet in operation instead of sounding like a machine gun. ::)

That's been an option on many cars for 20+ years (the Omega did it), its to allow ventilation of the car prior to getting in for hot climates (and the rare hot days in the UK), very useful.  :y

Yes, great for letting some heat out as you walk up to a car. Also, handy if you leave a window down and get out of the car as holding down the lock button will usually cause all the windows to go up.  :y

I can see the point of closing them on the button, but in 60 odd years of motoring in UK, there may have been 2 or 3 times when I may have wished to open the windows remotely instead of unlocking normally and opening windows. I do recall a time in Africa where it would have been useful, but in the UK? Nah!
Its a feature I regularly use in the summer :)

But when? I suppose if your car is securely parked at home or elsewhere during the heat of a rare English summer day, and nothing of value is inside, and you are happy to wait with the car in view, it might be useful. Any other time, opening the door will do. I honestly can’t think I will ever need to use it in the UK, other than to demonstrate its availability. Not accounting for climate change obviously. How many OOFers know - or knew - it worked on the Omega, and used it? :(
I have switched it off in the in car menu, as the danger of the windows accidentally opening, and possibly flooding the inside of the car, as nearly happened in my case, far outweighs the extremely rare requirement to open them remotely.  :y

Had a call from neighbour. ‘Your car back window is open’  Huh? Went out to find all 4 windows wide open  ( mondeo mk5). Discovered there is a ‘facility’ to remotely open all the windows with the fob! Must have done it accidentally in my pocket but why the **** would you want to?  >:( >:( >:( Now unchecked in menu and thanks to neighbour. Could have been nasty as it tipped down overnight.

My official total is 250 purchases
I'm probably over that just for this year  ;D.

Presumably because hope triumphs over experience ::)

I’ve used UPS as the parcel is 21kg, and the village shop is an agent. :y

I have a 21 KG parcel of a returned gas hob to post. Can anyone recommend the 'safest' courier in their experience?

Hmm, I can’t find anyone saying that Bluetooth can accurately measure distance and direction, Indeed all the reports I can find suggest the opposite, so I remain very suspicious that this is accurate enough. Apple/Google are using Bluetooth LE for this App which is no more accurate. Even if I could use it I would not be confident in its reliability.

Mark, you have more confidence than me in anything this government does. :-\

I have confidence in me and my family to do the right thing, the app appears to work (you have to try these things to make a judgement), the government is pretty irrelevant and used as an excuse by to many  :y

Normally I would agree with you, but there have been some concerns at false positive contacts being reported. My phone won’t run it anyway.

Impressive that they claim to have reduced its weight by 40kg over the earlier model. Still 294kg though.

Can’t wait to download it. It runs as smooth as a Morris Marina and with as many faults, so I can probably incur at least £10k in fines for failing to self isolate after being wrongly advised of being ‘in the vicinity’ of a Covid contact. ::)
