You would want the Exel-G's as the Gas-adjust ones are for self leveling suspensions.

KYB Excel-G £18.80 + Vat at Buypartsbuy = £52.05 delivered

Euro car parts at £10.99 + Vat sound tempting - what's the postage cost veralum?  They don't seem to have Vauxhall listed as a major manufacturer  :-/

they are doing more and more vauxhall stuff, don'y know what the postage is though, i rang and reserved them so I wouldn't waste a journey, look on the website to see where your nearest one is

eurocarparts (60 stores nationwide they claim!) I bought apair of gas ones for 10.99 plus vat last saturday, there are on sepecial offer in their "summer specials" brochure. you can ring your local branch and check stock and price so you don't have awasted journey or they deliver. but make sure you get them to change the price to the offer price.  estate ones from memory were a quid more ;)

yep, on the drivers side at the back, I use along neck bottle or afunnel but the car doesn't use oil between services so its not a problem

vectras and saab 900 and 9000 v6's (the same engine) use metal covers and I they generally don't leak, I was chairman of the saab enthusiast club for 3 yrs and leaking cam covers never came up, everyone I know who has owned a v6 omega has either had them done or knows some one that has. the nice thing about omegas is that all the faults are known and easy to fix but frankly I only like to fix things once. my covers were warped which I was told by a vauxhall technicain is common in older cars particularly when people have aslight leak and think if they tighten down the covers the leak goes away. the gasket design is much better on the metal ones, they don't have the rubber half moons and the gaskets are cheaper

I changed to metal covers, as used in vectras and saab 900 and 9000's no more leaks, seems to be apopular thing to do as you only do it once

Omega General Help / Re: Multi Rams Not Working
« on: 28 June 2007, 09:58:26 »
I have just sorted mine out,  a new box from autovaux was 13.97 plus vat and 2.50 postage. fitted it saturady and car is lovely. mine ran fine before as there were no vacuum leaks but someone had broken off the larger pipe and stuck it back on but it was blocked and didn't work. they have a oneway valve inside to store vacuum so I would go for a new one as they are cheap enough. it is the same box as the one by the pollen filter and you can swap to try it out. early cars had just one box by the heater and the multiram pipe was teed off it.

car is much more fun to drive! :)

Omega General Help / Re: water

mine was as tunnie has said, this is very common on omegas. I found it easier to unblock it from underneath first as he has described cos you can't find the drain hole up top cos its full of water!, do as he says and just turn the wheel and wiggle the soft rubber thing and it will come straight out, be careful though, probably 5  or 6 litres of tinky water!

thermostats on v6's rarely get changed as they are abugger to get at, but luckily for the engine when they fail it always seems to be in the open position. I changed mine when I was doing the "cam cover dance" in early march and it made the car warm up quicker, engine and heater, and it felt nicer to drive cos I suppose it was at its prpoer operating temp. and fuel consumption was reduced slightly, definetely worth doing !

I had a carlton diplomat with the same symptoms, it just needed regassing, when it gets below a certain pressure it refuses to work in order to protect itself

still works though! I fitted them with the filler on the drivers side at the back, a bit more fiddly to get the oil in but well worth the effort not to have leaking covers, ever!

are you replacing them with metal ones? I bought a pair from a vectra forum for 20 quid and they go straight on.

Omega General Help / Re: Wet front passenger carpet.
« on: 20 June 2007, 17:44:10 »
the easist way to unblock it is to get at the rubber pipe where it comes out in the front passenger wheel archif tou turn the wheel all the way to the right ( I think) you will see it, it is a soft rubber tube, it is soft enough to wiggle by hand, leaves and crap will come out followed by abut 5 litres of stinky water! once done if you look in the top as decribed by previous posts you will see the drain and you acn remove any rubbish there.

to help dry out the carpets if you look under the carpet on the left rea passenger side tou will see a round rubber grommet about 4cm across, this pushes out and will help it to drain away ;)
