That's alot of parts for one lot!
Would you consider splitting it up?

Cars for Sale & wanted / F/S 1998 2.5 CDX Estate Auto
« on: 23 June 2013, 18:44:49 »
The time has come to let my Omega go.
She's a 1998 2.5 CDX.

Showing 95000 miles.
The engine was replaced in March with a Swindon racing engine which has had a top end rebuild.
New cam belt kit and water pump fitted in April.
3.2 exhaust manifolds. (SAI deleted, EGR blanked off)
New exhaust (cats back) fitted this time last year.
New drop links last month.
Everything works as it should with no knocks, bangs or other orrible noises.
MOT'd until March 2014.
Stacks of history including the original bill of sale.
Bad bits:
She suffered a few key scratches under previous ownership, and a couple of the usual car park dings. This is the worst one:

Key scratches:

One of the trims has a small bit missing. It never bothered me much but a full set of F/L trims will come with the car. They will need spraying as they are silver.

One of the cam covers is leaking. I have a set of alloy covers with good gaskets so I will probably fit them this week.
One small patch of rust starting on one rear arch - not like other 98MY Omega's that all seem to be tea bags!
She's on disabled tax.

This has been a great car to own but as I said - it's time to move her on.
£700

Welcome to OOF fella  :y

I can't see that you're doing anything wrong at all TBH.
I tried all the usual tricks too but drop box didn't want to play.

The service sounds like a good plan.   :y

IF the ECU/relay box is intact, can I have a price posted pls?

You can remove the cams for cleaning but TBH the lobes look to be clean and that's the bit that's important. If you decide to remove them the you'll need to get the timing marks aligned then the cam belt has to come off.  Unless you have recently had the cam belt changed then I would advise fitting a new one just to be sure. Of course that would mean a new tensioner too, along with new camshaft end seals... Once you start down that road it gets expensive pretty fast!

It looks to me like the engine has had it's oil changed less often that it needs, which has stained the cams and probably everywhere else too.  In your position I would look carefully at the cam belt history and if it's even close to being due for a change then do it now, along with an oil and filter change.
Then change the oil at least every 6 months with decent oil. The stuff from the dealers is cheap enough and works well. Before too long you'll have a nice shiny clean engine again.

Great job!
Did you get the missing chunk of grille surround sorted OK?

I tend to use Avast free antirus.
I would also install superantispyware then run a scan, then do the same with Spybot S&D.
You can all three of those free from Download.com.

If that lot doesn't get rid of any problems then maybe start thinking about wiping the drive, but not before!

I use a cassette adapter.
Just put it into the tape player and plug the other end into my phone.

Dunno...
That's a piss poor ad with very little info.  I'd need to have a poke around behind the kit.

42
Me neither - they were the first change I made.

The CDX lattices are nice but wrong for this one as it's a Diamond, so it will be having the correct alloys put back on.

43
Yeah my MFL CDX had them originally too.
The Carlton is pretty rough looking but a friend of ours has recently broken one in the same colour so panels shouldn't be a problem.

Welcome to OOF!
Where in Kent are you?

45
Took it on a road trip!
5.30 AM start, home for 9.30 PM.
455 miles in all to bring this back from East Yorks.

Well pleased with the car's performance today - faultless!
