I did think of that but my lead has become very brittle and just brakes, it seems a bit difficult to extend a new lead from the quick release connector in the kickpanel.

32
As per title I'm looking for the aeriel lead that runs from the drivers kick panel to the headunit, mine is damaged and cannot be cut back anymore, lead must be intact.

Thanks.

My attitude to tailgaters is the closer they get the slower I go, they eventually get the message though it takes some of them a little while longer, the seriously hate it when there is a long line of cars coming from the opposite direction so they are unable to overtake.  ::)

I often get problem with people blocking my drive and going off to another house or up the lane to somewhere else, I live in a small cul-de-sac I live in an end house on the dead end of the street with the drive at the side of the house, many times I have been blocked in by people parking in front of the drive which is perfectly visibile, a few months ago I had to go somewhere quite urgently but couldn't as some idiot had parked their car in front of the drive and went for a walk, I could not get my car out of the drive for 45 minutes. My brother then parked in front of them as he had nowhere else to park and the had the cheek to knock the door complaining about my brother blocking him in, this is when I gave him my thoughts.

I personally would report them, I have had and seen many cases where the older generation just pull out in front of others, bump into others or even causing serious accidents without realising they have done it, just the other day I was exiting a busy roundabout, my indicator was on to show my intentions and an old man looked right at me and pulled out forcing me to come to a dead stop on the roundabout, he then started shouting and ranting and waving his hand in the air saying "young drivers are dangerous" not realising he was the one in the wrong, I even had one pull out of a side street directly into my path, I had to perform and emergency stop and sounded the horn which she again was completely oblivious to.

Omega General Help / Re: V6 maximum power
« on: 05 October 2012, 19:58:43 »
There used to be a Vectra ST down Pembrokeshire way running a supercharger on a 3L lump pushing 300bhp, I can't remember what was done but I do remember that he reduced the power due to being advised by his tuner that he was not sure if the bottom end could take it, you may be able to find the build still floating around online somewhere.

Hmmm maybe I should pre-buy some oil ready for when I get back.....

...how much oil does an XJR (1997) take chaps?  ::)

 :o ::) I think you would want to avoid a 1997 XJR at 8litres of oil, the V8 from 1998 take only 6.5litres  ;)

Given that the rest of the emissions are fine it looks like air is getting into the exhaust further back as already suggested, check the exhaust for any little black marks to suggest a very slight blow, it doesn't take a large hole for air to get in.

How does the emissions test kit check the RPM? Because if it''s from an ignition lead (or even exhaust note) it might get confused by the fact it's a rotary. Maybe it was bypassed for that reason?
Does look to me like air getting into the exhaust (or tester probe!) to me. I would expect these to be harder on Lambda sensors due to the oil consumption, though. That might make the italian tune up more important. ;)

If bypassed it would say not checked on the printout, I think the best bet would be to read the live data first as has been suggested already.

Why hasn't the fast idle speed passed? surely they should be holding the fast idle between the assigned range :-\ ::)

Did you give it an Italian Tune up on the way there?

I'd be very surprised if it's a dodgy sensor... Could be a slight leak in the exhaust system :-\

But my biggest issue with those results is that the idle should have been held in the correct range

Thanks Tunnie and LD.

LD. according to the printout there is no speed range for the fast idle test. It simply says FAIL.

I tried my best to give it an "Italian tune up" ::) on the way......but the traffic was heavy. :'(

I don't think the exhaust is leaking. Nothing was mentioned by the tester.

The fast idle speed for MOT emissions test is between 2500 and 3000rpm.

You have to put the promo code 'bigdeal31' in the box at the bottom of the checkout page. It dropped my price from £66 to £41 !!!  :y  I didn't buy, but I'll go through it again with better quality oil!  :)

The 31% off is for everything but the free oil filter is only with triple qx oils.

Got the inside wet, driving in the thrashing rain up in MK. Got soaked.

Worth it though, just to hear the GM V8 goodness cruise past
i see TB is in a fishing mood. ;D
There was enough water come in through the windows to go fishing ;D

Monaro. Early one.
As a couple of episodes of top gear, I think there's money to be had, in retro fitting Chevy v8's into classic chassis.

That e type, and the Jenson interceptor. Upgrade the suspension, oooohohooo yes pleeeeease. :)

Boyd Coddington made alot of people very happy, and alot of cash, doing just that 8)

That man makes some very nice hot rods and always to a seriously high quality, I remember seeing one weighing 3/4 of a ton and pushing out around the 700bhp mark  :o

General Car Chat / Re: How do you drive your omega?
« on: 27 September 2012, 22:35:40 »
How often has advice been given that on a borderline emissions MOT to "drive it like you stole it" or "an italian tune up" before trying again ??

Indeed, modern cars WILL break down if not driven above a certain R.P.M. (a lot more than 2k), due to d.p.f. regen...

Sometime these DPF are hard to regenerate as you have to stay above a constant speed to do it which is not always easy on our roads that are often riddled with roundabouts, we rarely see DPF problems on cars that are driven through varying speeds rather than low engine speeds.

I am not scared of heights but I do not have the stupidity and most probably do not have the strength to be able to do that!
