Omega General Help / Re: Auto Box Park

Im pretty sure the only thing that could cause this is if the locking pawl has broken off. If its floating around inside the box, start ooking for another box or car.
Sounds scary hopefully it has worn down rather than snapped completely.

All sorted it was just the missing o-ring I presume this went missing when the new rad was fitted before I bought the car.
ordered a couple of 94p o rings from autovaux but as I was in town today I thought I would see if I could get some of the shelf mixed o-rings cheapest I could find was £8.00 which seems a waste as the rest will get chucked out after sitting in the garage for years Halfords however do a small pack of about 10 for £1 which were perfect.
don't forget to top up the fluid too  :y
Yeah that is a job on the list

The rear wheels should lock when in park ,there is a park pawl that locks the auto box  :y

I reckon 'Paul' (pawl) must be on strike then as he is not locking my wheels, would low oil level cause this as I have had a leak.

Omega General Help / Auto Box Park

Hello all with my Omega Auto box in park the car still rolls forward surely the gearbox should lock it up.
I looked in the owners handbook and it says the front wheels should lock when in park, they must surely mean the back wheels?
Either way mine is not working hence why I did the handbrake adjustment.
Is this normal?

Confirmed the source of the leak it is coming from the union block and running down the gearbox cooler will take it of tomorrow if I get time.

Star drive allen key on top I presume to take it off, but what does the circlip in the side hold maybe with a little mastic i can take it apart and repair it?

Power steering cooler is a loop of pipe between the bumper and front fan.

Gearbox cooler sits between aircon condenser and coolant radiator.

Engine oil cooler sits between the oil filter and block on the four cylinder  ;)

Wouldn't worry too much about the gearbox refill...

Undo the union block and fold the block back to the header tank. Remove the oil cooler. Fit new oil cooler. Fill with fresh atf. Reconnect block. Job jobbed.

Steering cooler will be a lot messier, but just as easy :y
Thanks am I right in thinking the gearbox cooler is the middle one sandwiched between the power steering cooler at the front? and the radiator. That is a big cooler for the power steering if so not that I know what size they are 'normally'

Thanks for your wisdom Dr Gollum cross fingers it is power steering sounds a lot easier to do then messing around with gearbox levels.

Thanks for the info Dr Gollum it is transmission fluid (red) as you say so I presume I will need to replace the cooler any thing to watch out for when stripping it out?

The oil cooler you are talking about is the gearbox one. If the leak is engine oil, it won't be radiator  :y
Unless of course my wife topped the oil up  :-X :-X

Omega General Help / Re: Hand=brake shoe turnbuckle adjuster
« on: 13 September 2019, 16:37:13 »
Did mine yesterday they were not touching at all and the drums came off so easy which has not been my experience of other makes so a point for the Omega.
As someone has already said once the drum is off you can easily see the end of the turnbuckle moving in and out but from memory it was down to pull the shoes together and up to push them outwards for more brake contact. I managed to push the spring down which rests against it and turn it with my fat little fingers so not to fiddly or tight.
This was the drivers side still got to do the passenger so I might eat my words yet!! :D
