Sounds a logical assumption to me.

Omega General Help / Re: 2.2 compression values.

Need to get compression readings with throttle open - otherwise not enough air gets through to compress to give the reading.

If it's not in a manual somewhere, I'd expect 175-200psi each pot; no more than 10% difference across the board; ideally less than 5%.

Just as an aside, the hot side connection to the EGR valve (when you remove the corrugated pipe) happens to be the same thread size as a standard 15mm end stop plumbing fitting.  Not much use for the manifold end unless you remove the rubber seal though!

My installation uses non-EGR manifolds, so had to block it off and keep the valve.  Seemed easier than removing it and fitting a coke can (yes, I know)?

Result!  Well done.

Reality is that the fuel pressure remains for days and even weeks after the engine is turned off (unless you have a leaky injector) so no need for it.

In my case I'm not using the Omega pump (or tank) - one from a Ford Focus of unknown heritage and I think Fords DO have a priming pulse..perhaps as their pump setup isn't as good?

Not helping the OP's problem though ;D

Possibly caught the loom with an axle stand/jack?

Had a similar problem - lack of fuel in the tank :-X  It would (on starting) manage to kick in enough fuel for a cough and a start but not enough flow when running to keep it going.

My money is on the loom to the pump then - I've no idea of the path though but expect it's chafed through/got pinched somewhere?  Any recent work in that area?  or anywhere for that matter?

Never attempted to use it on a diesel though....and by the looks of it won't either!

It's a bit of a last chance trick I find - OK to prove a fuelling problem but only in very small doses.  Very easy to get runaway.

..and I don't recall a priming pulse either (had fun trying to get my X30XE running from empty and a dead crank sensor); manually jumpered the fuel pump relay to get fuel up to the rail.

I think pump feed is blue/red (or is it red/blue)?

I agree - no gunning until the temp gauge moves (at least).

Could be that it runs a limited map until it's got "some" heat into it?  I recall the autobox on my old 2.0 deciding that holding the lower gears was a good idea (was for the cat, I guess) - didn't do the rest of the engine any good (died shortly after - as did its replacement..) so I used to use the winter setting for the first half a mile to stop it doing it.

If it is for the autobox, then you can leave them as they are as there should be no connection to the water circuit (you've got a busted radiator if it is!).

Been a while since I had one, but I think that might be the connection for the Auto gearbox oil cooler?
