I've ordered the mesh grille, not sure how it will look though because my car is silver, might show too much of the inside of the bonnet. :-\

I got mine yesterday (minus fitting kit, grrr!), and yes, if the car is silver, it shows too much of the bonnet area that would normally be covered by the original V grille.

I'm going to spray mine black behind the grille area to make it blend in better, and, spray the yellow wash wipe filler cap as well, as that shows up.

was a genuine Irmscher badge they sent though :)

Omega General Help / Steering idler bush
« on: 02 December 2011, 23:39:30 »
Can anyone tell me if this bush is available from Vauxhall as a separate part?  i've enquired via local motor factors, and they only supply the whole arm with the bush.... 91quid!!!!!!  :'(

Its all my Omega failed its MOT on, I can't believe such a small part is so expensive!

33
Took your advice chaps, and it was indeed the front sensor that had come undone ;)

Nice one! :)

Isn't Towbar electrics testing also coming out as well?

If you have a towbar fitted with electrics, the electrics must work properly.

35
its one of the mounting brackets that hold the headlight to the bodywork.

I'll check out the sensor tomorrow.

I've got a decent Snap-On scanner (Verus) but it doesn't have an option to read that level, and I wouldn't have thought it would as it doesn't output the error through the EML, it only displays the error on the MFD display.

36
I know, must be mad eh?

Got a 53 Omega Estate CDX, one of the headlights has a broken bracket and it keeps coming up with the FLD/VISION fault on the display.

Is it easy to simply do away with the Xenon headlights and simply fit the standard headlights into this Omega?

**IF** i'm able to get hold of cheap self levelling sensors, how can I diagnose which one is actually at fault?  My local scrappy doesn't have them, and this car is going out on Monday so I need to get it done by then.

I thought all diesel Omegas were fitted with an intank electric pump to prime the injector pump lines?

Omega General Help / Radiator issues
« on: 26 November 2011, 12:29:06 »
I'm confused.  Been looking on Ebay for a radiator for my Omega 53 plate 2.2 Auto, and some listings make a distinction between radiators for a Omega C and Omega B, and others claim that their radiator will fit Omega B and Omega C.

So can anyone confirm for me whether or not there are any Omega B radiators that will fit the Omega C 2.2 Auto with Aircon and oil cooler attached to the front of the rad, i'm happy to reposition the oil cooler if thats the only thing preventing me from fitting an Omega B rad.

Obviously if someone has a decent used one for sale and they are not a million miles away from Bath for a 2.2, then i'll just settle for that, but i'd like to have this confirmed as i'm keen to get this once donor car back on the road, shes too good to break up.

Is the alarm ecu also paired to the other components ?  :-\

No, like the Vectra, the Alarm/Central Locking ECU is paired to the remote locking part of the key.

ihave also had a ecu with the new ignition do i need to replace that also to work on the new key

ECU sets on older Vauxhalls come in a matching set of three parts.

Chip from the key, ignition transponder that sits on the ignition barrel, and the ECU.

You can NOT interchange parts from other cars to replace a broken piece unless you have access to Tech2 or Tech2 compatible diagnostic kit.

So, if your only reason for changing the ignition key is because the barrell was knackered, you need to remove the chip that is in the replacement key and put in the chip from your old key.

Didn't want to leave Omega ownership in the first place, and yet find myself owning my first facelift model after many early Omegas.

I've had some cracking Omegas in my time, our main N reg 2.5 V6 CD which was written off by a bus (family safety FTW!), then briefly had a T reg 2.0 auto DEATH Omega ( it was used as a black 'ambulance' if you catch my drift!), then replaced by a 3.0 Elite on a P reg which was on 237,000 miles but had to go when a water hose on the back of the block burst and I was offered a ridiculous amount of money by some Bulgarians for her, so she went, to be replaced by a Citroen Picasso!! :/

Not for me obviously, for the missus.

And then I goto auction on Friday, with the intent to buy some crap to scrap, and a 51 plate 63,000 miles CD saloon auto in mint condition comes through, and I end up going mental and buying it, and now its going to be our second car to the Picasso (or is that the Picasso is second to the Omega?)

Cracking car, needs a wheel bearing, exhaust tightening up, but shes so quiet, better build quality than the previous model, not significantly so, might be because this one is such low mileage.

A few questions though:

1). She doesn't have Xenons, is it difficult and tricky to transfer all associated bits from another Omega that does have them?

2). She doesn't have folding mirrors which i'm told was available on Elite models, are they simply plug and play?

3). Any issues with fitting a leather interior?  Both front seats are electric up and down only, I assume like the Elite pre facelift, the fronts are electric all directions, are the plugs under the floor for me to fit multidirectional leather?

4). Going to source a CCR2006 to have combined tape and cD changer, tape is only so i can use a tape/aux adaptor for the missus' ipod, I'm under the impression that any Vauxhall stereo with an aux socket is full canbus and won't work in the Omega?

5). Rear view mirror doesn't have autodimming, I take it that some of the facelift models carried this option only and is it again plug and play?

6). What else could be added to the Omega that i haven't thought of that was put into the facelifts?

44
Have you tried removing the fuel filler cap?  Might be a blocked vent valve which means pump is struggling to suck fuel as its also trying to suck the tank flat.

Could also be a blocked fuel filter, and the pump has gotten progressively weaker as its tried to force the fuel through.

Good news if it is the pump, virtually any MPI pump will fit your Omega (Cavalier, Calibra, Astra, Vectra, etc)

and I don't think saloon seats fold flat, whereas estate ones do.

My estate front seats don't fold flat ? Well I don't think they fold...
Apologies, I was referring to rear seats!....rear saloon seats don't collapse.

You are quite correct though Weds, elite front seats don't fold flat, but, to increase the load length of the estate to a full 3m you can wind the passenger seat backwards to get a more usable space (but, i'm guessing you knew this!).

Interestingly, the only vehicle that came with a PROPER fold-flat front passenger seat was the CDX, on the facelifts at least. Even more bizarrely, all the 'roadwars cop car omegas' that you seem to see on the telly have a fold flat front passenger seat!?!?! I presume this is for the donuts, coffee and fish & chips etc.....would be easy for a tea-leaf to hop out though!

I've broken up an S reg pre facelift CDX estate that had a fold forward passenger front seat.
