i have just taken the cd out, it looks a little scratched could this be the problem?

i dont see how as its given me roads that are just a few streets away.

I cant see the disc being scratched being the issue.

The more satillites it can connect to the more accrurate the position, i would be looking at the instruction manual to see if there is a calibration you can do

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / double din fascia plates
« on: 27 May 2008, 21:03:42 »
I have finally bought a new double din CD/DVD/Ipod/Satnav double din unit to replace the 2006 unit i have in the CDX.

Now i remember there was someone who was selling the double din fascia plates on ebay, but i cant fine them now and it is bugging me.

I know its a long shot but can anyone remember the seller of have a link to the fascias

all i can remember was the pic, there were plates in different colours and they were spread out on a fan type design

My 51 CDX is the same, solid rear shelf.

I am looking to fit 6'' speaker in the back have a feeling i will have to get the nibbler out for this.

Am yet to see a drill attachment that will drill out a 5'' hole

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: how to remove alternator?
« on: 29 April 2008, 20:57:10 »
there are two bots that hold the alternator to the block, they are E14 torx and 15mm or 16mm nuts on the other.

on the back of the alternator there are a couple of electrical connections, they are secured by 10mm and 8 mm nuts

i have never stripped one down so i can't go any further than that sorry

I have bought stuff off this guy in the past, highly recommended.....

What about facelift elite seats into a facelift CD then??? Is it likely to have any wiring or is it also a bit of a porky pig of a job?

I was chatting to FFcGary1 about this last night, he had done it in the past on a CDX.

might be worth dropping him a PM

Yep, that's a downgrade!

....and our 2005 failed a few weeks after purchase also. It's a piece of electronics, they're ALL subject to problems.

So we had it replaced under waranty for a 2006, different cage required though.

So, is our '03 DTi Elite likely to have any wiring for an Siemens NCDC2013/2015 Sat nav unit???. At present, it's also got a 2006.

I wouldn't have thought so.

The NCDC series required a RGB cable if it was connected to a colour screen, i doubt that would be fitted if the car was not supplied with the sat nav set up

Thanks for the input, but I fear that the PSP is smaller in height than that bracket and therefore would be seen and I am a little unsure how the PSP would be attached? is there another component that sticks to the PSP which then locks onto the bracket?

It wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to attach something to the PSP but i'd rather not!

Just want it to clip on somehow, and I know I am asking allot here but it would be great if the bracket its self was easily removable, hence why i was looking at attaching it to the vents!

I don't want much do I!! hehe

i have that dash mount in my omega, it is a bit narrower than the PSP.

you may have to make up some sort of bracket that the PSP clips to and that attaches to the bracket, with a bit of laterla thinking i am sure it would be possible

Any clear pictures of the connectors you guys are talking about ?

I have books and books of aerial connectors and leads - just not sure what they look like on the car - or where situated.

sorry no pics but i will try and explain....

the current aerial lead connector that sits in the back of the cage has to be removed and fitted to the FM unit with the HK kit.
the FM unit has an areial lead with a 'conventional' aerial fitting (male ended) in order to hook this up to the stereo i have had to buy an adaptor, but this doesn't sit in the back of the cage as per the standard Vaux lead, so some cobbling was in order

i hope that made sense  :o

Is there any way to connect the ariel lead on the drive & play to the vehicle ariel lead instead of behind the stereo?

Last time it was a pain as the HK plug won't lock into the cage like the VX plug does.
I seem to remember there is another ariel connection, possibly in the kick panels which uses different style connections. Can adaptors be bought for this??

When i connected my HK kit to the car i had to remove the cage and modify the back of the cage to allow the adaptor to fit.

wasn't the tidyest think in the world but it worked  ;)

the keys are slightly bigger than single din ones......

when you fit the adaptor in the back of the stereo make sure it is tucked away properly, there isn't a great deal of space and the HK unti seems to get in the way

if it's been left standard, it'll have the bose sound system, meaning bose parcel shelf speakers and an amp in the boot, mine has 4 disc changer with satnav so it has the NCDC2013 head unit, yours might be different if it's the 4 disc changer with tape player

My understanding is that Bose was an option on Elites rather than standard, so may not be bose but using the Head Units Amps and crossovered Speakers.

no, on elites Bose was std fit.....

may have been options on other spec levels

i am not really electrically qualified enough to make something like the light unit, that said if something like that was available i would be interested in buying it
