Omega General Help / Re: Rear bulbs
« on: 08 October 2016, 03:03:12 »
From memory, PFL saloons have two tail light bulbs per side, a 380 5/21W and a 207 5W while FL cars have only one, a 380 5/21W.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Heated seats
« on: 14 August 2016, 20:53:15 »
The switches on my f/l elite light up, but no heat in the seats. I assume the element in the seats have failed but its strange that neither front seat works as the cars not had a hard life. Is there anything else to check before I take the seats out?

If it is currently taxed does it not go that this is still "official" until DVLA receives V5 detailing change of ownership? Not saying it's strictly legit, but is this not the case?Insurance obviously would have to be sorted before driving it.
I would go with this. It takes a couple of days at least for information on VED to become 'live' on the DVLA database, especially if the vendor 'forgets' to post the old V5c staight away! Its not as though you have an expired disc, or no disc at all to look at these days, an ANPR reader would show it as taxed for a few days after sale, not the same with insurance though, you must get that arranged beforehand, as said above.

My Meega's always been ok, but I've had weird noises on my Vectra that turned out to be tyre noise, coming from uneven wear on crap tyres!

Omega General Help / Re: Paint lacquer pealing off

Dont know if its relevant, but the bits that are losing the lacquer on my elite are the plastic bits, ie the boot spoiler & patches on the bumpers.

Omega General Help / Re: Help with Check message, please.

I got this message when a headlamp motor failed. They usually fail in the 'down' position, so check the beam height against a wall, garage door or similar.

I've used this guy a few times with good results, on both two & three button keys. He replaces faulty microswitches and can replace the key case where the outer membrane is torn. Doesn't do anything with key blades or immobiliser chips though.
Usual disclaimer, no connection to me.

Any evidence of water in the front footwells? Three points of concern are making sure the big plugs behind the kick panels are dry and fully seated, and also the same for the alarm/locking ecu ehind the drivers kick panel :y
That'll be the cause, then. Just had an 'incident' with the n/s scuttle drain, resulting in water overflowing into the passenger footwell. That was to be the next job, taking the front passenger carpet out to dry it. Just waiting for an improvement in the weather!
Cheers for that. :y

Hold each switch down until you hear the relevant window click, then hold it up the same. Repeat for all four windows...  Job jobbed :y
Nope, just tried that, made no difference.
As I said in my OP, I had reset all the windows but I just did again to be sure.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Electric window closure with key.
« on: 10 January 2015, 22:19:22 »
Hi all, being doing a couple of jobs on the Omega today and by chance discovered that only the offside front & rear window close by holding the lock button on the ignition keyfob. All four windows work perfectly from the master switch on the drivers door, and from their own switch on the relevant door but the nearside ones wont close using the keyfob. I have reset each window by lowering it then raising it and holding the switch up for a couple of seconds when the window is at the top. Not tried the sunroof closure with the key yet in case it stuck open!
Car is a 2001 f/l Elite 3.0
Any thoughts would be welcome.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Child seat sensor.
« on: 03 January 2015, 19:16:17 »
Replace SRS ECU with one not configured for the CSS and ensure the flat yellow rectangular connector under seat is NOT re-connected
This would seem to be the easier option, does anyone know the correct serial/part no. for this srs ecu?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Child seat sensor.
« on: 03 January 2015, 18:22:20 »
The airbag light is on permanently on my FL 3.0 elite, due to a fault in the passenger seat child seat sensor. A tech2 session wouldn't reset the light, and I assume you cant just disconnect the sensor, so what would be the best way to sort this? Is it possible to change the airbag ecu to one from a car without the sensor, or does anyone have a black leather fl elite passenger seat available?
Any help/advice would be most welcome.

I have a fault on my 2001 3.0 elite that will become a problem with the new MOT regs that are due to come in 2012.

I think you will find that an airbag light on will fail the current mot

Not according to my MOT guy, the new regs come into force on 1/1/2012.

As for removing the fault with a Tech2, that doesn't work, even with the seat plugs undone, the light goes out then reappears after a few seconds.
Perhaps changing the airbag ecu would be the best option to try first, I can see a trip to the breakers yard coming up!
Any other comments would be most welcome though, guys.
 ;)
