Thanks for the positive comments guys :)

So the sun came out today for the afternoon and I managed to squeeze in an hour wash between all the jobs I had to do...

Came up nice, but really would have loved a chance to polish her properly.. Fingers crossed for more better weather soon eh  ;D

:) the great thing is in Australia, if you dont have a V8 well you've settled for what is obviously the basic cry baby version :D

The best is the new w427, my uncle has one in black and it is biblically quick. The standard 375kw 7.0 V8 sounds like your in the middle of a storm. The sound is amazing,, and then when he got it "tweaked" a little, well it only got better...

Will get my hands on one one day... go here to have a look... *dribble*

he has said one good word about vx.. it was to do with the monaro, which unfortunately is actually a holden product ;)..

I completely agree with you though,,, someone who prefers a ford over many other vehicles has got something wrong in the brain...
and you know what they say about fords.. ;)

General Car Chat / Re: Have you ever named you cars?
« on: 05 March 2010, 23:16:21 »
never named any of mine, they all just get called my girl or baby... :) an actual name to me feels weird..
and I couldn't imagine calling a car a male name.. Imagine trying to coax her home when she isn't feeling well..

A friend called his car trevor then would try to coax it home. sounded like:
"comon trevor, nearly there, comon not long now" (in a soft voice.) it just didn't work  :-/

General Car Chat / Exhaust

I'm looking for a new exhaust system for the omega, sounds like the one I have has broken a few mounting brackets, and got a hole somewhere. It seems to have had enough,

Looking for a sports exhaust to fit,
does anyone know of any in germany etc? (Europe) that I could get a hold of, and what sort of price id be looking at?

Entwood, where yours has a 50 mine is currently running a 30.. we replaced it today at the mechanic has he reckoned the green colour would mean the green 30 fuse should go in it...
Mine has the exact same layout,, and I have found no reference to what they should hold,, just that they controll all aspects of the running of the car...
my haynes makes no mention of them that I can find.. :(... and the mechanics car information program had nothing about it either.. strange really..

Yeah, I was thinking it might have just been the wiring that caused the short circuit.. but mechanic warmed about the EGR valve..

So taking it off and cleaning it out with paint stripper would breath some new light?
Will have to remember that,, thanks..

General Car Chat / Electrics fixed
« on: 04 March 2010, 21:36:46 »
So as I wrote in a previous thread I broke down the other day with the car blowing one of the engine management fuses...
On wednesday finally found some fuses and replaced them in the car, needless to say it ran really lumpy and had erractic idle.. Seemed like it was struggling to breath on acceleration..
After harrasing my mechanic all day I finally managed to get it in at 5pm, he ran a diagnostic check and it came back that the EGR valve was faulty,, I quick check found the wiring had been a bodge job that had finally burnt out and failed....
an hour and 35 euro late it was completely rewired, light gone and all good..
the drive home was pure bliss, accelerated like a dream.. :)
Beautiful..
still want to sort out this fuses on top of the battery though, since I cant seem to find out any information anywhere... will post a pic tomorrow of how my fuses look, want to see if anyone else has the same set out..

The mechanic told me that the EGR valve may still be close to failing,... any ideas on where I could get a new one for if the need arises??

At least it is only your first car... you should see how many I see drive past here. and its their only car!!!

(Not sure what is the exact name of that model here, but if it is what I am thinking of, they are going for northwards of 1000 euro for a good model now.. )

My first car was a 1972 LJ Torana.. 6 pack with 4 speed manual.. Was a little beast of a thing and really beautiful to drive.
Since leaving home my dad has decided to turn it into a drag car, he has supercharged and done a few other bits and bobs to it now..  :D
This is the best pic I could find, doesn't give away how nice the shape is though :(
