Omega General Help / Re: Exhaust manifolds....
« on: 12 May 2013, 14:22:44 »
Just went out to check and no gasket, it does look horrible like black sealant has been used but it's raining again now so I think I'm done for the day...
I am trying to decide if it's worth getting another engine, rebuild that and swap them...??? It's looking like this car will be off the road a while... :-(

Ok,
Today I have been able to spend a little more time on her...
An hrs work and have the PS pump, AC pump and the bracket out.
2 minutes later the manifold fell through the bottom of the engine bay! Man, oh man! That took so much!!!
Anyway, is it normal for there to be no manifold gasket???
Also, the mating surfaces look in bad shape and the more I take out, the more I find wrong...
I need to make some decisions! :-/

That's what I have been thinking... Lol
At least I don't have to deal with the AC lube! my AC's been empty for a while...

Plus I can clean things up a little...

Thanks cem!

Right... Now I'm struggling!!!!
I've got the lifting bracket out and can move the dipstick a little.
I need to get the coolant pipe out... The bolt is out but it doesn't budge.
Can anyone tell me how to get it out??? I'm about to smash it out!!!
I think I might need to get the AC pump and bracket out!?!?!

Ok, I just had a look in the guides... It looks real easy to take out the PS pump so I think that's what I'll do this afternoon when I get back from work....

By the way, I found why I had a blow....
Most of the studs at the rear half of the manifold were loose....

It might pull out, I normally just get a but brutal with it and tie it out the way

Thanks but forward is the PS pump and not out of the way, rear is the manifold and more in the way And outward is the PS pipe....
I don't see where it can go???

Aghhh! Flippin' rain and darkness!!!
Ok, I have been on the passenger manifold today and yes, all of the studs came out real easy... Well apart from the front one, that is still buried behind the dip stick tube.
I have removed the 'B' bolt and it moves but not far!? How do I move it enough to get at the front bolt???
I can't see where it can go???
Can I just pull it out????

What happened to Dan then ??? :-\

Who's Dan???

Anyway,
Not updated this for a while...
I have been gathering stuff to fix problems as some might've seen in other posts..
Today, I picked up the sealant from VX... They are next to useless there!!!
Anyway, I also got the water pump and other stuff so I will be busy working on her this weekend...

The original poster :y

I think Dan posted it from the original broken post,

I hope you stick at it Dave, I take it yours must be on 160 odd K now ?

Off topic but what did happen to Dan, I know he sold his car this time last year  ???

Oh! That Dan....
Yes, this thread was re-started by Dan because I had problems but the cream has cleared that up! :-) Lol....

No, I don't know where he has gone either...

DazzerM,

Yes, she has 153k on her and I think the engine might get changed sooner or later at this rate! Been on it all afternoon and I still don't have the pass' manifold off... I'll leave that for the other thread...
