Took my facelift for a run today, after the breathers had been cleaned.

All i can say is wow! what a change.... its much much quicker off the line in first, the engine feels a lot less "stuffy"

Also feel loads more of power from 3.5k revs onwards, its really noticable in 3rd pulling hard after 3.5 new surges in power i never knew the engine could do!

Vast vast improvement in performance  :)

Went over to visit Omegatoy in ardly, really friendly guy really knows his stuff. Fitted cruise on his '95 GLS TD Estate... worked straight away perfectly, did not need to be enabled  :)  He was chuffed! Had the pleasure of driving it, damn that thing shifts!! He's had it chipped to 200bhp  :o - Also has a clutch from a 3.0 senator..!! - It is so so fast off the line in first.

Also interested to find out he made that Omega GLS Saloon with the full running gear of the Lotus Carlton....DAMN!!! wish i new he was so near, i would have been banging on his door shouting "give me a go, give me a go"  ;D

Yes- probably. An A4 sheet of instructions,I would imagine, giving a sequence of ignition key turning and trip meter twiddling IIRC.

I agree thats probally it tey are not usually that hard  ;)

If its anything like the Veccy C, were by you hold down the trip reset button on the dash, and turn the igition to stage II. Don't bother.

Have a fiddle with the dash buttons, hold down various things as you turn the ignition on.

Just water?  :o - I'd get some anti-freeze in that quick, can't be doing the HG any good.
What effect does the mix have on the HG?

To be honest? No idea.

But i remember looking for project cars, and saw one that had a 'true HG fail' - laidback66 commented that i could be run on just water on the way back.

But for the HG to fail, the coolant system had to have been running on pure water for a long time. So i guess its not good. I assume the water freezing would't help....

i have driven a smart car, nippy little things and suprisingly roomy inside.

Has an awful awful gearbox though... its only has a semi automatic, nasty thing. Takes about 25 seconds to change gear!!

Saw one doing 90mph on the motorway once  :o

Don't see many smart cars up norf in the country.... so can't really say about their drivers in general.

I have 2 rad switches, neither work. I have put them in boiling water and stuck a multimeter across the pins in all combinations but everything is open circuit  >:(

Does anyomne have a spare radiator switch, 3 pin variety, ident XA knocking around that they can get to me quickly?

Would my elite one do as a temp solution? - Still not got the log book so its not going anyware. Has sod all petrol in it anyway!  ;D

On the plus side, at least the cambelt is noce and clean. ;D

So, is this wreck, sorry lovely car ready for sale now then?
The cambelt (and tensioners) look fairly new, like most things on this motor, shame they didn't change water pump at same time as it would have saved me a job.

Still needs a rad switch, and waiting for logbook to turn up.  If Tunnie is available, I may change brake fluid for the hell of it and for completeness...

Maybe around today, Dad did want to go to Stratford but I don't think its really the weather for it  >:(
