Hi all,

I know it seems we're struggling here - and I admit I've been a bit shy too. Thinking about venues whilst the weather is a bit of a challenge  :( - how about the Oxford Vue Cinema complex ? A corner of the car park providing Oxford aren't playing at home - and some shelter if needed in the complex. If you feel like a challenge we could fit in a ten pin bowling session depending on numbers and lane availability ??
Leaning towards end of Feb to give people a few options to consider - any takers..?
Thats a decent idea :y

Dont clash it with guffers bash though :y

I seem to remember you feel the cold more than most ;D
..seem to remember some of us or more naturally insulated than most too  ;)...

.. so how about the 20th or 27th ? Anyone know the Oxford home fixtures list (I don't do football)

..you're welcome.
Certainly was - I never really got chance to rummage round the autojumble stalls either - BUT I did manage to sign up for a free track day (they were giving away 1000 over the course of the weekend) that includes a drive of a Lambo' & Ferrari. Date to be confirmed for next year.

Meetings, gatherings, parties etc / MPH & Classic Motor Show pictures
« on: 17 November 2010, 23:50:00 »
Hi all,
It's taken me a while to sift through all these and there are too many to practically display on here I reckon so hopefully this link will work (Let me know if it doesn't and I'll try again)

http://s1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa344/ianu2/MPH%20and%20Classic%20Car%20Show%202010/?albumview=slideshow

What a great show - again far too many cars to capture - here is my selected highlights. Loads to see in both the MPH and Classic arenas - not always that easy to get a decent photo of some of the cars - but with some creative angles and cropping hopefully sufficiently interesting enough to keep you hooked to the end.
Apparently one of the photos has 2 of the smallest production cars in the world in it (as featured on Top Gear with JC) - I'm damned if I can spot it  ::). There were loads of people also crammed round the stand also trying to find it and paying money to have their photo taken next to it  ;)

I found myself strangely transfixed by the American metal - the bright red Mustangs were awesome and the Eldorado - well what can you say  :o.

I think we've now entered into a whole new opportunity of possibilities with the very popular presence of 'wrapped' vehicles on display in the MPH hall. The effects were amazing from the mirror wrapped Citroen DS3 to the matt black wrapped M3 and Focus RS - absolutely stunning. The white wrapped bodies on the Citroen stand also took your breath away  8-) but wouldn't stand still long enough to get a picture..

Hopefully the quality of the website does the pictures justice - if you're interested in any let me know.

My car of the show  :-/... too difficult to call but in no particular order 5 of the best would be:
 :yAston Rapide
:yBlack wrap M3 - yes its only a beemer - but it looked stunning.
:yThe white Citroen DS3 - it looked fantastic honest  :-X
 :yMach1 Mustang + the one next to it (Ok that's 2  ::))
 :yThe black Jag XK150

What would you choose if you had the money  :question

..loads of classic stuff I didn't even photgraph..

Enjoy
Cheers
Ian.

..must admit this is looking decidely dodgy folks  - at the moment it's only Josh having a curry on his own (you don't even eat curry do you Josh ?)  :-/

Not sure what everyone is doing between Xmas and New Year  - but how about one of the midweek days ? - Reading - there's some good curry houses near Winnersh - and plenty of office parks for a meet and greet before. Just a thought... :-?

..yes I had a look on Google Earth and realised it was gated so wasn't suggesting we use their car park - but further along there is open car park area in the same complex serving the other units.

Any takers anyone ..

Ok - assuming it's going to be one of the weekends between now and Christmas it will be either next weekend 4th/5th, or 11th/12th, or 18th/19th.

Personally - I reckon the Heritage Centre would be an excellent venue when the weather is warmer and the go-karts are running again - but granted the museum is worth a visit and you can get free entry again if you subscribe to Gift Aid. The Cafe does well  :-/ :-/ er Cafe stuff - I wouldn't suggest a full meal there but certainly a cuppa and a cake. Entry is £9 iirc
OR - if the curry is the primary objective - and we know one that seems to fit the bill quite nicely - why don't we rendevous nearby (maybe the ex Braun GP industrial park near the Tesco roundabout at Brackley) for meet and greet in one of the car parks there - if I can make it I'll take some snaps too.
For me the Sundays are out and I can only make either the 4th or 18th.

SO - nail a date - and do you want to meet at the Heritage and retreat to Brackley for a curry - or save the Heritage for another date and go for a meet and greet at Brackley - OR something else  :question

Cheers
Ian.  :y

...I'll take that as a 'no' then.. I'll put some pictures up if I get some nice ones.

..just booked 2 tickets for Saturday via this website:

www.necclassicmotorshow.com

Will have 2 spare seats travelling from Bicester area if anyone's interested ..maybe 4 if 2 don't mind the rear seats of an XC90 for an hour  :P
I'd intend making it a full day - maybe not there for 9:30 start - but quite possibly there until 7pm  :y

Hi all,
Anyone I know from the Oxford meets going to either of these ? - or anyone else for that matter ?
AutobahnStormer have a deal on for members too - tickets allow entry to the MPH Show (not Top Gear Live though) and Classic Bike Show as well apparently.
Single Tickets £15 (save £5 on door prices for Sat/Sun)
Family ticket £34.50

EVO magazine are also offering discounted prices via their Website I believe too.

Haven't committed myself yet - but thought I'd mention it.

Cheers
Ian.

Really impressed with the shots Ian, does that comment have more value being from a retired pro photographer ???  [smiley=happy.gif]

I could be very interested in that V reg blue miggy, it looks so very well looked after and polished.... 'oooooops! it's mine'  [smiley=embarassed.gif] AND... ' The camera never lies '..  ;)
Thanks Jusme - pleasure to meet you yesterday and very nice of you to say so. You're right it never lies - just a few white ones now and again  ::) ::) (ain't that right Symes  ;)).
To be honest - apart from a bit of tweaking with brightness and contrast to sort out glare (and a splash of cropping to remove the rest of the traffic that was in the car park)  - these are pretty close to the originals. That blue does look lovely doesn't it..

Cheers
Ian.

A collection of excellent photo's, many thanks Ian.
I think we need to make you the official OOF photographer, the salary is our eternal gratitude  ;D

Do you mind if I use the photo of EN52 KSK you took for my avatar? That is if I can work out to make it small enough to put there  ::)

No problem at all Josh - Philnohair is already using one - I'm flattered. It took me a while to figure it out - but unlike me and the nightmare I was having in the early hours this morning  >:( - if you read the very comprehensive instructions on the how to guides  ::)in the first place - it's not difficult  ;).

Bit late for the 2011 calendar Radar - maybe an OOF-WI one for 2012 then - one for the Ladies  :question :question

OK all - happy to ping out a few mails with originals if you want them - but I've also put them up on here where you can view in full screen slideshow mode.
You should also be able to print or download any your interested in.
Obviously a) I assume everyone is OK with this and b) that if you do you respect this is for your personal records  :y.
