General Car Chat / Omega's in Turkeye
« on: 22 October 2015, 15:21:14 »
Hi there,Just a bit of info really.I'm just back from Turkey and whilst their I was browsing their Omegas as I saw a few around.First thing that struck me was the price really expensive still over £10,000 but I did notice that some had built in tv screens in the front seat headrests. As they were leather seats it seemed an original spec so I wonder what other mods are out on european market?http://www.ooyyo.com/turkey/c=CDA31D7114D2857F111B986FBAEA355B65A11D6614F3854111/1618538476886806912.html/#images

Omega General Help / Re: Thermostat
« on: 06 September 2015, 21:49:42 »
Thanks for the info, what about the thermostat?Do you think i should replace the housings as well.Could i not just replace the transfer pipe O rings and the thermostat without housing and its gasket or O ring.Is it both gasket and O ring?

Omega General Help / Thermostat
« on: 06 September 2015, 21:02:25 »
Hi all,Think after changing the cam gaskets there is a possibility that the thermostat O ring might have failed.I've been losing water for a long time but had never found out why or where, but i noticed in the V around the thermostat quite a lot of white with a pinkish tinge crunchy powder. So i just emailed my local VX dealer for a price for a thermostat and 3 O rings there reply £63.30.Seems pretty expensive for what it is.Your thoughts would be appreciated?By the way my thermostat seems to function ok, but if i have to change O ring might well change it too.Pattern parts?

I too have a slight leak which i think is on the drivers side,it is very slight but on a decent run i would need to top up.When i changed the cam cover gaskets last week i noticed in the V crunchy dry white slight pinkish crud. There is a water connection there any ideas of gasket required/part nos?The plastic plenum bridge will need to come off is there a gasket under it?Thanks

I will certainly keep everyone informed on the performance of these Victor Reinz gaskets. There customer service was first class as i emailed Germany to find a UK stockist answered the next day with nearby stockist and address and phone number. It seemed to fit ok without problem the old GM ones were very hard and the plug wells were quite full of oil particularly the passenger side.I think i may need a coil pack for that side in the future as it was overheated and cracked but still working. If anyone knows under the plenum bridge i noticed some whiteish crystalised  powder around the water inlet i assume.I have been losing water for some time i wonder if that could be it???

Well Vauxhall quoted £114 of course cheaper on TC if i could join,so had a quote today from Motorcare Motor Factors ltd of £8 each now that maybe for a pair not quite sure and i have to wait until July to get them but no rush.As i said i emailed Germany who quickly got someone in the UK to email me with local suppliers, their main distributor in the UK is Mahle, these gaskets were recommended by one of our members as above.Obviously the Vauxhall ones aren't that great otherwise we wouldn't have all these problems and we'll find out i'm sure
