we had a similar thing a few years ago, a wagon tapped the back of my mums car and then drove off.

She got the number but there was no witnesses, we contacted the police and they were non to interested so we persuied it through the court.

The driver caved in and admitted that he had caused the damage, the company were order to pay for the damage + cost + compensation and the driver was prosicuted for driving without due care and leaving the scene of an accident.

A moral victory but the company went bust shortly after the case so we go nothing from them  :(

cars look a little pricey, that said you are buying from a dealer so it does give a little piece of mind.

11K for the miggy may seem steep but it is a low miler and top spec, and is only 3 years old and both of them have less that 50K on the clock, they are not even run in yet.

« on: 31 December 2006, 13:20:20 »
was there any movement on the wishbone to indicate that the bushes were worn?

Mine look to be original, have done 120K and i have excessive tyre wear on the inside

I have seen wishbones on Ebay for about £25 brand new, i didn't know if it was worth taking the plunge and changing them

just out of curiosity was there any sign of movement on the wishbone with the old bushes on there......

I have a feeling mine may be due for replacement

i have been with esure for about 5 years and until recently they have been ok.....

they have managed to mess up my DD for the last 4 months, on two occasions not taking it at all and then writing to me to tell me that if i didn't pay them they would cancel the policy >:( i had already paid them by card over the phone ::)

Went to privilge and they quoted my £75 less, went back to esure, told them i was cancelling the policy and they let me go, no asking me why or trying to match my quote, so they lost my business......

Kostas, ask yourself this...

Would I like the car enough to handle the depreciation of buying a brand new car (be it through the net or anywhere else)?

If the answer is yes, then go for it. :)

I have driven the Astra 2.0 turbo with the same engine, and it is damn quick!

I'm not really looking to buy one as i don't want to go back to 4 cylinders, i just found it quiet appealing for prople that would like a good new car at a good price, i like it but not enough to handle the depreciation. I would only buy the Vectra VXR brand new as i really really like it, it really is fast. ;D. When it comes to cars one thing i don't have is common sense ;D

Only thing that puts me off the VXR is Clarksons drive on TG :o

Clarkson is an idiot, it is obvious that he made the car understeer on purpose and yet again announce the mondeo ST220 the winner. This is the biggest Jokeof the year. I have driven the VXR and yes it torque steers and understeers if you don't know how to drive it properly and respect the 280ps that come out of the engine. I personally found the car perfect for my likes. We know that JC hates Vauxhalls.

The car that clarkson drove on TG was pre production, vauxhall were pressured into giving them a car that, by vauxhalls own admission, was not set up to final spec, it was a mule car that was being used to iron out the understeer and torque steer issues.

Clarkson then set about tearing the car to bits and slagging it off, especially the two aspects that he had been warned were not ironed out on this car, Vauxhall by all accounts have now told TG that they will not get first dibs on any new cars and they will have to wait until the likes of Fith gear and the reat of the motoring press have had a drive.

Although Clarkson was peeved when he was made to eat his hair live on air after vauxhall released a car that looked almost the same as the mock up pictures that had been banded about, laugh, i almost emptied my bladder.

Clarkson loves his fords, simple as that

fair point about the TVR's, but wuld you want the constant smell of fiberglass and the slightly unpredictable reliability of a TVR?

With something like the monaro joe public still really doesnt know what it is or want it is capible of doing

The HSV commodore sounds interesting though........i take it they were personal imports if they are in the UK?

My god a 500 bhp Monaro  :o

http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/vauxhall/vauxhall-mig-news/288439-vauxhall-monaro-vxr-500-a.html

Relatively speaking, of course, that is seriously cheap!!

seriously good value for money as well, how many other cars do you know of that will do 190mph and still give you change of 40K?

General Discussion Area / Re: Anyone got experiences of Jeep ?
« on: 17 December 2006, 16:39:58 »
friend of mine works for a Jeep dealer, he doesn't speak highly of them.

Terrible build quality, engine is thisty and not particularly reliably, especally high milers, service cost are phenominal and the parts are dear as well if you want to do it yourself.

have a GOOD look over the chassis, he was telling me they were replacing chassis on Cherokees that were only a year old!!! and new ones were coming in with a lot of rust on them, they dont have a lot of rust protection on the chassis by all accounts

THe goodies you get are there, but that was to make up for the depreciation, a car of that age will have lost most of its money by now.

General Discussion Area / what year did they stop the elite
« on: 02 December 2006, 00:10:00 »
as per the title.

Been thinking about chaning the moggy next year, by that time it will have about 150,000 miles on it.

I want another miggy elite, prefer a 2.6, would have to have leather, but i have not seen one later than about 2001.

were there any that were later?
