having looked at the choices you have listed I wouldn't go with any of them
BMW don't have the reputation they used to have for quality, the cars are dear and poorly spec'ed, my father in law works for a main dealer and some of the stuff he tells  me makes my toes curl.
Merc, same as the bmw really, except that the cars are even less involving to drive.
Jag, basicalliy an upmarket mondeo

I know this may sound a bit backward but why not try and source a good engine for the miggy and stick with that?

i have just sold my old tom tom go on ebay, had i known i would have PM'd you

Fleabay has a few bargains on it, i sold mine for £125 but it came with stacks of goodies, a basic Go model will fetch £100, it will be a couple of years old but if it has been looked after it will still be bang on.
Register on the tom tom site and get the software updates for Free, these will allow ful postcode searches (not an origional feature of the Go model) and if you feel really flush for £45 you can get the up to date UK map.

sorry to thread hijack, here is my print out from my alignment session!!!

After chatting to them i felt the car needed some serious money spending

They kept going on about everytime they adjusted the front tracking the steering moved 3 degrees without adjustment and how the rear track arms were in the process of siezing up and they were afraid to adjust them.....

Any ideas?

Open another thread since that Geometry report is not good... and to be polite to the originator of this thread.

Will do...you have me worried now :-[

Thanks for your suggestions Tony.

I'm not sure that i would go back to the garage who did the original work, i am working up in Nottingham next year so it might be a case of finding someone up there who can help set the car up

i used to get excessive outer tyre on the left handside and inner edge on the right, but that was because i used to go into roundabouts at a fair lick, this was in my old car
