General Discussion Area / Re: How bad are Sintra's
« on: 20 August 2006, 17:34:47 »
i was working for a vauxhall dealer at the time they were current models, we used to call them Sintrash, they were not the best car Vauxhall made, for all the reasons Mark stated and more.....

If you could i would suggest getting the Zafira, smaller, but will still lug a lot of people and luggage around, the smallest engine to go for is the 1.8, i sold mine earlier this year with 135,000 on the clock and it was still going well with loads of life in it, lots of the X and Y rag ones are starting to come down in price quite a lot, moreso now the Mk2 version has been out for about a year now.

Ok..

If it was a project car and i needed flog it to make a profit, then Option A (not that i just did that of course ::)

If it was a fleet car and not me paying the bill Option B.

If it was my facelift then Option C.

Knowing Ronnie he would beat me down to a tenner for it!

Sorry, wrong answers, all posts will now be reset (only I don't have the power)  :(

i found him to be patronising and moronic whist on TV.

His body language spoke different to his words and when he spoke there was no conviction there.....

Sorry i am a compulsive people watcher, it's part of the job

the media are here to tell a story, and along the way that story may become 'embellished' a touch, but i think the truth is there were people out there who were planning such attacks. What concerns me more is how many other groups are there who are trying the same thing?

As for leaks, some are leaks for the sake of letting the news out without having to publically announce it (ie documents that have been found to have been leaked by a government official) and there are those that are leaked for either money (the press pay well for news scoops) or because the person who has leaked it has done so because it is something they do not believe in and so cannot condone, buy doing this they see that as some form of repentance.

As for the whole Blair/Bush thing, we have been in the US's pockets since WW2 it is just getting to the point where we now seem to be another US state and the prime minister is nothing more that a glorified puppet who answers to the white house, not the people of england...... >:(

I'll get off me soap box now and get my coat i think :-[

i have waxoiled my cav convertible, was a pain of a job to do but it only needs doing the once...

did the inside of the doors, chassis legs, sills, the joints between the inner and outer arches and all the box section i could access.....

only thing i would suggest is do it on a warm day, the waxoil is easier to apply, if you do it when it is cold it is recommended to use thinners to water it down a bit

no denying that that represents good value i can't get that association of dowdyness out of my head, hence the reason i wouldn't look at any 90's/00's rover

that and the terrible reliability (i used to work in the workshop for a Rover dealer)

there are some roads in the world i would love to drive, this is one of them.

Technical, a challenge but also beautiful scenery and most likely a joy to drive with a car whose engine makes all the right noises.........but it would have to be a manual..

i can just hear a nice air colled flat six blatting along there now....ahh what an experience

2000 facelift 2.5 - 103000 and rising rapidly.....

10,000 miles in 3 months, and loving it

(non Miggy) 86 2.5 cavalier convertible 52,000

phyiscally it will fit...... i have a 2.5V6 in a mk2 cavalier, i am sure a veccy would yield lots of room....

would a RWD V6 go in, not without some changing of parts....
exhaust manifolds, sump and possibly flywheel for starters, engine mount and bracket (i have one each of those), the trunking for the multiram will need modding and you would need to find a FWD V6 starter and alternator cooling fan assembly...

Aside from that it would be a fun project, i wouldn't mind betting that the engine would go in without having to mod the chassis leg

watch out on the calibra front, they can rust faster than an omega, especially the rear IRS setup

i have used autoglym for years, and i think it isn't a bad product, it's good value for money and does what it say on the tin.

However auto glym does have a couple of drawbacks, one of them being it 'lifts' the paint, even though it is smooth it does have a very mild cutting ability, that's why you can see your poliching cloth change colour, its pulling part of the paint off the car.
the other drawback is that it is chalkey, when it goes off it creates a powder that is a pain to get out of the cloth.

I now use carnuaba wax, it is easier to apply than liquid wax, it doesn't create dust and it looks the business. I have a gold car and a dark purple one, both of them look the business after this has been used on them and gives a real depth of shine as well.

i love cleaning the car, for me it is relaxation.....

I take all day to do it as well, the neighbours have got used to me doing it and they now think nothing of it, in fact i think a few more of them clean the car now as a result of me doing mine.....

Even if i only wash and chamois it i can take a few hours!!!

do you know if he can get good rates on young drivers?

I have a 17 year old in the house who is twitching at a premium of £1000....mind you i would as well

4288
i wash mine once a week, not quite the regimented way that AA does it, but i have a 'route' that includes all the underbonnet, door shuts, boot shuts etc.

it's gets polished every 2 months and the inside gets cleaned on an as and when basis, normally every few weeks as i don't generally get it very dirty inside.

I like the car to be clean, being gold i can get away with it if i wanted to but i don't

4289
WOW!!!

He wants £100 for the radio, changer, wiring and the codes, no mention of the aerial, and MID.

Looking at the pics of the car it doesn't seem to have an aerial for the phone though

4290
aside from the CCRT700 what else would i need to run the phone function?

please don't say sim card... inow that already  ;)
