Omega General Help / Re: Cambelt request
« on: 10 July 2016, 08:14:45 »
Its the pulleys that are first failure. If you replaced the entire Cambelt Kit 4 years ago and are nowhere near 40k I would not even change the belt - 40k/8 yrs is well within the life of as belt.

On the subject of 3.2 manual gearboxes they were fitted with an r30 box with longer ratios that the r28 fitted to 3.0 manual.

There is an ac pipe which runs from condenser under battery tray, along chassis rail to the bulkhead. They are poorly fitted and rub thru on the rail .good news is they are available new from gm approx £60

They are fine although a little softer than the std non sl gm springs. Assume you got them from euro car parts.

Omega General Help / Re: exhaust v6
« on: 08 May 2016, 22:57:00 »
Laney, top tip for more power is to use tesco momentum which is 99/100 octane. The knock sensors advance the ignition . 3.2 engines are not unduly restricted by the exhaust and cat. On a dyno you will see 230 - 235 on momentum.

Omega General Help / Re: Front Discs, any recommendations....
« on: 25 March 2016, 07:32:35 »
Key to free moving pads is  to
1. Clean the pad carriers with emery paper and then test fit the pads(sanding down the pad locator tabs of any excess paint if required) then lube up all contact points (carrier and pads)with ceratech brake lube ensuring that no excess comes in contact with disc.

2. Check that slider pins move freely and dismantle, clean and lube if req. never had to replace the rubber boots.

3. Check piston moving freely and rubber boot in place and undamaged. Use g lamp or piston retraction tool and often good to push back and pump out a couple of times.

Binding often due to build up of crud and rust in the area of carrier and pad tabs.
