Omega General Help / Re: Wishbone & bush advice?

With such low miles per year use , and some (not all) MOT testers misdiagnosing steering/suspension  issues on many cars ,not just Omegas ,with steering box, steering idler, etc ...
before you spend ££££ on an advisory repair ,it may be an idea to consider how urgent the issue is  :-\

have you noticed any symptoms ?
poor handling , uneven tyre wear etc

proper diagnosis is important too IF there is an issue .

Are the components ALL original ,and nothing has been replaced ?

the APT kit doesn't include center tie rod or idler arm IIRC

some minor wear in multiple componants can combine to form slight play

though ,if you're only popping down the shops at 30mph once a week, a complete steering/suspension overhaul may be excessive.

It's very common on Vauxhalls for the wiring loom between door and pillar (by hinges) to break   ;)

Spent six hours up West Suffolk hospital a few weeks ago. £12.60 :o. Vinci, bloody robbers.
I wouldn't be surprised if Hospital staff are on commission from the car park staff  :P
Hospital staff keep you waiting for hours to get seen ,then 2 more hours for x-ray ,then 2 more hours for results etc etc

Not sure the 2.6 / 3.2 cats are worth that much. Also if selling the car to a scrappy, they will knock the price down if the cats have been removed.
they will knock the price down if ANY PART is removed  ;)

it's worth phoning a specialist buyer for a price like https://www.warrmidlands.com/

NOT some dodgy local pikey  :P

Agreed.

Considering the OP is in south London, he might want someone closer to home. Like THIS company.
warr midlands is a good place for the price of the cats
your link site is to get a price for the complete car  :-\
or do they give decent prices for cats ?

Over the last few weeks in spare time , I Helped a friend who's acquired a Cavalier do a few jobs before it's first ever MOT
though being a 1983 A reg , it doesn't now need an MOT as it's tax and MOT except  ;D
It's been "resting" in a barn for 38 years ,after just 29,000 miles use from new (NOT RUSTING) #timewarp  :)
Had to replace the locks (keys lost long ago) for Nova one's , no cavalier mk2 to be found, even in MY parts hoard  :D

MOT history

I owned an Jamaica yellow A reg L spec and Jewish racing gold C reg CDi spec myself as a 'youth'  :)

And knowing my fondness for 'old Vauxhalls'  :-X he asked me to help out

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Cant resync key.
« on: 01 June 2024, 18:10:42 »
Had a look at the internals under the microscope at work last night. Couldnt see anything obviously amiss.
Just been out to try the resync again but no luck.
I have discovered though, that it will unlock the boot ok, but does nothing with the doors.  ???
so it will be the open/close buttons then
If the rubber case splits then "finger cheese " can get in the micro switches/buttons
washing with isopropyl alcohol (fob battery removed) can sometimes revive the switches
