grease it?
I think its a bit more than that :y
Greasing does not work and if you don't do something about it, it rips the door :'(

Getting the metal coolant transfer pipe off is the difficult bit!

I just buy a new one now and then I don't have to worry about the mess I make of the old one!

sjc.......... there is not a chance in h*ll of me getting involved in replacing the thermostat. I would put cooking foil over the radiator like we did in the old days, first :y

Mine sat between 80-90 Splott, which was normal to me.

The thermostate sits in the middle of the top of the V and is accessable once you remove the inlet manifold ;) ;)

Thanks Lizzie :y

If it was showing minus 4 on the gauge I wouldn't take the inlet manifold off. The guy who come up with the idea of putting it there is probably still laughing, now!!!!!!!!!!

;D ;D ;D ;D  It is relatively easy, and if you ever get tempted Splott, as usual this Forum has a great guide on it:

 :D :D ;) ;)

What happened to the days when all you had to do was remove two bolts, lift the housing up and the thermostat fell out into your hand.
I must be getting old! :'(

Luck has it my car is running about 82c :y

Two questions:
What temperature should the V6 2.5 run at?
Where is the bloody thing? :-/

I suspect the internals might be the same.
Internals on the headlight?
Its the headlight I'm after for a F/L. Got the internals, unless the headlight motor is U/S. If it is, I'll be looking for that. Hopefully its ok!

piecing your threads together....

Your self levelling, isnt, and therfore lights pointing down and message on MID.

have you proved where the fault is yet?  saw you looking for a sensor?

is the car back on the road yet?

Very astute Jimbob :y
ABS Ecu is repaired. I just thought I would collect bits to fix the car, in case I need them.
Car should go for mot on Wednesday. The head lights don't seem too low but I will need to sort them. The fld warning will drive me mad. The drivers head light is dirty inside because of water ingress. Water is getting in somewhere but don't know where. I don't want to remove the head light until its had mot.
When it is mot ed and taxed I was going to pm you and organise meetting up with you. I didn't want to pester you until the car was up and running. I wasn't in a rush to fix it but now I am as I'm working in Manchester and would like a bit of comfort. :y

Didn't mean to be rude Kev2b4, just that I will put up with the rattle if it meant doing what you suggested :y

I would imagine the retaining bolts are totally corroded in - so you can't undo without shearing them off - but if you did this depending on access drill out and re-tap with ST ST bolts and copper grease - it helps but doesn't stop things seizing in the heat -- ( tried it at work several years ago - plenty copper slip - take out 1 hour later - still tight - mind you did get to 600 deg C in the meantime!)

Don't fancy doing that :o :o
