Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: europe bulb kit
« on: 02 May 2009, 18:17:50 »
HI, I used to live in germany and being a Truck driver (Class1) was all over europe. Just a couple of points for you as the police love foreign drivers, ( for there money robbing barstuhles) By Law you must have a warning triangle ( to be placed behind you on the Side of the road at 80 meters and motorway at 150 meters ) in case of an accedent or breakdown.  A Unused Firs aid kit ( up to date when possible still in origional covering) also the foil blanket.  dont forget in Europe it is Illegal to pass the scene of an accedent without stopping and offering help. also holland speed limit is 120 kmh about 78 mph. Lights if defective must be repaired a.s.p.. ps have fun over in europe and watch out for the cops the take speed photos from behind in Holland. :y

Omega General Help / Re: Where does this belong ???
« on: 26 November 2010, 16:57:22 »
Thanks for the help guys, At the moment it is to dark to see properly but i will have a look in the morning.
Kneepad, i think your right that the Hbv is missing, all the heating positions work, it also changes the temp. and blows hot and cold air.
Do I need to block the pipe off in pic 1 & 2. or should I just leave it.?

Evo. The square box with 4 bolts in it looks more like it belongs to the steering, & there is no connection for a vac pipe, but your tip with the filter is good, i will check that in the morning,

Again thanks for the help.

So Just had another look, and still cant find any HBV, the rubber end of the hose is clean nothing in it,
Welung666 if you look at the 2nd photo you can see the heater matrix and the pipes that come out. the top goes along the engine and the bottom one goes behind leading to the pass. side.
There are two vacume pipes coming out of the matrix, 1st at the top, and the loose one is in the middle.
I have also found another empty / loose vacume pipe connection on top af what I can only say is an old fuel filter on the pass. side. could it be possible that there is a length of pipe missing and these two ends connect to each other. ???

Can someone tell me what this is for ??
I have took a pic of this.

Omega General Help / Where does this belong ???
« on: 26 November 2010, 13:49:56 »
Hi, I've just bought a P reg 1997 2,5 TD select estate a few weeks back, there is a couple of problems what shouldnt be a pain ie new thermastat.

My question is There is a Vacume pipe coming from the heater matrixs and just hanging around, and I cant find anywhere to put it. I never had the diesel before so I havent got a clue. Lol. Am I right by thinking the BMW engine doesnt have a HBV?.
Can anyone tell me where it belongs please, there is a couple of pics for it below.

It is a 2,5 TD so I know Diesels arnt as fast as petrols but this one seems to be very slow as my wifes 17 year old 1,4ltr astra leaves me standing, Is this normal ????

Any help or tips would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Omega General Help / Re: Steering idler removal
« on: 16 July 2010, 13:28:45 »
I done mine a year or so ago and it was also a biatch to get off, I sprayed a load of wd40 on it and left it to work in after about an hour it just about fell off.
If you need a hand then give me a shout, I only live down the road from you, in Seaham.

Omega General Help / Re: Exhaust rattle
« on: 16 July 2010, 13:36:20 »
My heat shield was rattleing and I fixed it by putting some Gungum behind it. you cant see any repair either. (Gungum exhaust paste )
and looks better than a jubilee clip.

I also have a creaking noise, sometimes when I brake hard but not all the time. and when I go round a tight left hand corner. I believe it is the bearings at the top of the struts ran dry.
I sprayed a bit wd40 inside at the top of the strut and the noise seemed to have gone for a few days till it rained again.
you might have a similar problem.

( was just a thought. )

I could be wrong but it sounds more like wishbones,
Does your car roll when you go round corners or brake?

Omega General Help / Re: HI, AND NEED HELP PLS
« on: 03 May 2010, 14:12:48 »
hello and welcome,
first check your plug and cable to the  maf. that they are on correctly, clean and not broken.
if that doesnt help you may need a new maf.
no doubt other members will also have a few tips what you might be able to do.

sounds like the bearing is getting dry. so i would say it will need replacing before it causes an other damage.
other members could have better tips on what to do though.

Omega General Help / Re: oil in plug well
« on: 03 May 2010, 14:09:47 »
Oil in plug wells is a sign of rocker gasket.
an easy way to get the oil out of the plug wells is to use a syringe, the type for refilling your ink cartrige on the printer are good.
you will need to put a straw on the front ie from a wd40 can fits great,  its an easy way to get the oil out and saves a bit of money.

I wish I'd had the savvy to think of using a syringe and red lube thingy but too late now cos its all back together and the oil got in. But thanks anyway ghost rider, I definately won't make the same mistake again  :y

An easyer way to get the oil out of the plug wells is by useing a ceringe (thing for injections) that you get for refilling your printer cartriges, just put a straw from a lube spray can on the end, works great and you get nearly all the oil out.

Sorry about the spelling its not my strong point.
