Omega General Help / Re: Auxiliary Belt & Tensioner
« on: 20 January 2012, 14:11:18 »
Thanks, I should have said that they are TC prices. the waterpump  was done a couple of years ago when the cambelt was done so that should be okay for a while longer

Hi,

Is there anyone in the Coventry area that could supply and fit the above for me please? just phoned the dealer and they want £76 +VAT for the tensioner and £25 +VAT for the belt, there's got to be a cheaper way, are pattern parts of these any good? I'm arthritic so can't do much these days on the old girl.

Cheers

Omega General Help / Re: Ignition Barrel
« on: 24 November 2011, 18:11:49 »
I need a bit of help here please, I've stripped the barrel down, cleaned it, and reassembled (well partly) all the plungers and springs are in the right places but I can't get the anti rotation pin back in, the plungers are proud of the barrel by a fraction of a mm but enough to stop the barrel rotating when I put the pin back in place, is there a trick/knack to doing this bit?

I thought I might have done something wrong and got another barrel from the local scrap yard but this one is exactly the same.

TIA

I have the dreaded sticky ignition barrel, I've read the guide on how to service it but just wondered what is best to grease/lubricate it with during re-assembly.

TIA

When i bought my very first Elite, i got home from Telford in it about 10pm,  went out at 11pm to go late night shopping at Tesco, and hit a Deer doing about 70  60 on a back road...

£2050 repair bill....    bonnet, front valance, bumper, grille , HID light, Radiator, etc etc....    (killed the fairly big deer as well....    to heavy for me to lift on my own...  )

Direct line, coughed up for the repair though....  which was a relief....   had it back in 7 days.

That's one VERY fast Deer  ;D

I wish things like this would happen to me, I usually pay exorbitant prices then find it was worth 25% of that  ::)

Nicely played all the same  :y

Good lord. They're beyond breaked.  :o

Painted mine silver, try and keep the rust at bay for a bit.

For a minute I thought the bottom one was the aux pulley :o

Yeah, I nearly had a heart attack when I saw them, the mot had them as an advisory 7 months ago being "a bit rusty" seeing how bad they were i'd say they had to be a lot more than a bit lol... Still they're done now.  :y
