Gave up worrying about paying tax ages ago, what annoys me more is people who shy away from work & receive benefits from decent people who work & pay tax, as for earning £80,000 Prison Governor another possibility.

General Car Chat / Re: space saver wheels

Always thought it's a damn silly idea not to provide a spare wheel, Subaru has a full size one & the Range Rover was supplied with a full size matching alloy ( brand new ) but has a space saver slung beneath.

With Diane Abbot doing the sums, I admire your confidence at having spare cash to " fritter away" .😆

Watching police shows It always amazes me how many police drivers are giving it the Oscar Zero Delta routine on the radio pinned to their uniform whilst charging down some offender at full pelt , yet are happy to give points and fines to someone parked at traffic lights doing no harm , pot kettle black ?

Here we go again 😄

Regardless of what the report says, my phone stays in my pocket when I'm driving. I've had hands free kits, I don't even both installing them anymore.

The reason for this was when I was working as an IT Consultant, I used to get calls from a colleague asking me quite technical questions about something I may have done months ago. I found my driving dropped below what I would call an acceptable threshold.

For that reason, I stopped answering the phone. Nothing in my life is that important that it can't wait until I've finished my journey, or if it is that important, I will pull over and have the conversation.

We all know alcohol has a detrimental effect on driving. It doesn't need a report.

To summarise, both mean your concentration and abilities are less than they could be. Why split hairs over which is worse? It's like arguing it's better to be burnt to death rather than drowning to death. The result is same.
.

At last a sensible comment.

Omega General Help / Re: Cannot open bonnet
« on: 20 November 2019, 11:38:55 »
I had exactly the same problem with my Omega a few years back used the advice given on here about pressure on the bonnet got it open okay, adjusted the cable & got all new retaining clips from my local VX dealer & fitted them as well worked perfectly after that.

Andy B do you do any carvings ? Only I thought a nice plaque with the date of the course would look good on the garage wall..
😃😄😆

 ;D ;D ;D I'd make a better job out of stainless steel  :y :y
.

How about a metal disc that I can cover the lens of the speed camera in question ? Or should I leave it to whoever it is round this way setting fire to them ? 😁

I always had you down as an (ex) Engineer in the Royal Navy, not carving out the ships, but hey ho.  :-\

Rangie's thread went off track so he'll have to start a new one when he's completed his course. An OOF thread going off topic, how unusual.  :)
.

The last one I did at least 10 years ago the course presenter asked each attendee what vehicle they were driving when I replied a Subaru he simply raised his eyebrows,  Range Rover should go down equally as well its nice & early in the morning in December & there's a lovely pub near the venue so a nice lunch  afterwards for me & wifey , may even pop into Peterborough afterwards as she's hinted what she wants for Christmas, Andy B do you do any carvings ? Only I thought a nice plaque with the date of the course would look good on the garage wall..

A mate of mine bought a saloon Moskvitch in 1973  kept it for about 5 years & then traded it in for a Lada Riva estate !
I just couldn't believe his taste in cars he now drives a Zafira, I think the Moskvitch was around the £800 mark the interior was awful had a hideous metal dash.

A truly superb example, got to be one of the best if not the best in the UK.
