Milkfloats used to be surprisingly effective silent killing machines but not so many about now.

Is there any advantage (noise? power consumption?) to using 2.5" or 1.8" drives?

I can't find a direct link (this the nearest I can find http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23479172-le-stink-arrives-in-london.do).

The explanation I heard at the time was that the stink was from continental pig farms.

The touch pad on my laptop is a bit sensitive, quite often I find that I have clicked something (with unintended consequences) while trying to scroll.

20 minutes ago I accidently clicked "add to buddy list" and I now have someone in my buddy list and I cannot remove them. The Yabb help says:

Buddy List
The Buddy List section of the profile gives you the ability to add other members that your frequently contact to a list that will show in your User CP view. Your Buddy List will display each name, their Online/Offline status, and link options to send the user a PM, an e-Mail, or visit the link to their website.

    * Add users to your Buddy List by clicking on the link below the Buddy List display box.
    * Delete users from your Buddy List by double-clicking on their user name inside the Buddy List display box.

Double clicking the persons name in the buddy list in my "User CP" behaves just the same as single click and opens their profile  :-/

I know what you mean! One of my old laptops, the
one I bought from Moses  :), wouldn't pull the skin
off a rice pudding. So I loaded it with Xubuntu,( it's
that feeble it wouldn't even load Ubuntu), to give it a
new lease of life and let me play with another OS.
The mousepad is that sensitive under this new OS I
daren't go on my sharetrading sites or Egay with it.
I'd probably end up buying a squillion RBS shares or
the Forth Road Bridge.  ;D

You only need to breathe on it and it 'Clicks' the
nearest link. It's like a magical mystery tour every
time I move the mouse across the screen, I never
know what's going to pop up or where it's going to
take me.

I've tried going into the system and adjusting various
settings but it doesn't seem to do very much.  :(

Not to worry, it whizzes round the Net on a cut-down
browser called Epiphany, plays music and makes a
passable word processor; so it's a step-up from
making out like a paperweight.  ;D
I'm running Debian/LTSP on my laptop so (X)Ubuntu is a close relative.

Have you got a synaptics touchpad? I suspect that if I changed some settings in the synaptics section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf I could make it less responsive but I quite like the fact that it is responsive.  ;)

I think you are trying to remove them using the 1st Usercp panel?

what you need to do is:
Usercp
profile
buddy list
confirm password
you are now at a list you can double click on to remove  :y

Save changes

Job done  8-)
Excellent, it worked like a charm (once I had remembered my password). Thank you :y

My car "should" have two catalytic converters but i decided they were expensive & could cause the car to stop/limp mode?, fail mot on emissions....
So i breaked 'em off. No condoms on my car! 8-) :D

Forgive me for sounding being ignorant, but I thought cat equipped cars had to have them fitted to pass the MOT? :-?

Don't quote me but....

I don't think cats were compulsory before 2000 so if you have a 1990's car you can 'de-cat' the car by fitting a straight through down pipe.

I am not totally sure of the cut off date. My 1972 Range Rover emission test is 'no excessive visible smoke from exhaust' (or something like that). The MOT takes half as long as it does for the Omega  ::)

If you look at your last MOT emissions results you should be able to tell if the criteria require a cat to pass.

secondary air injection.

Blows air into the exhaust manifolds during warm up to help the catalytic converters warm up more quickly.

I would be doing antivirus and spyware scans now.  Its possible youve been infected.

If that doesnt fix the issue, you may need to do a factory reset on the router and re set it up.
If you haven't changed the default admin password it is possible that your router has been hacked.

I think I read somewhere that some routers could be hacked even after the default password had been changed so it is worth checking if yours is affected and whether there is a firmware update that should be installed.

What browser are you using?

Have you had to configure it to use a proxy server?

If so you probably need to tell it not to use the proxy server settings when accessing 192.168.1.1 (or temporarily tell it to use 'direct connection' while you set up the router and switch it back to your current settings afterwards).

Alternatively something has altered the routing table in the router...................

be warned, once you drive an Omega and then jump in a FWD hatch, you will think that wheel in front of you is not working.

Turning circle's of FWD hatches are crap compared to the more nimble Omega.
Front wheel drive is at a disadvantage because the constant velocity joints have a limited angle over which they can operate.

The Omega has a very nice speed sensitive power assisted steering system. Try steering one without the engine running to see just how much assistance it gives at low speed. Try sneezing in a vehicle with ordinary PAS at motorway speed and see how many lanes you can cross  :o :o

I was told a couple of years ago that test examiners can now refuse to take the test if the car isn't fitted with dual controls.

Is this true?

I think you mean that ^^^^^^^^^

It's called a Spinnaker Winch :y
Did they have those on old sailing ships though?  It looks like an electric capstan to me.

That's an electric spinnaker winch, manual versions are available though :y
Its manual, you can see the splines in the top where the winch handle goes. The handles are usually taken out when they are not being used otherwise people trip over them.

Big winches might be called capstans.

Pulleys, blocks, pulley blocks, sheeves are all words that might be applied to the er pulleys.

Bottle screws are used to tension the rigging.
