Omega General Help / Re: INCORRECT GEAR RATIO PROBLEMS HELP !!!
« on: 25 March 2010, 21:20:49 »
Make sure you get the 'people' to remove both the large and small sumps, the small one will have the remains of the 'thrust washer' in it if it has broken.
A clean filter and new Dexron 3 will ensure a 'level playing field', good luck.

Please explain what is happening ie does the gear box change 'flare' between gears, if so between which gears, 1 to 2, 2 to 3 or 3 to 4.

Do you mean just the 'auto dimming' opereation or the motor that changes the posiion of the mirror ?
The 'auto dim' is controled by a two sensors, one in the plastic frame, the other in the mirror glass.

I would be very interested if the manufactures name is 'stamped' on the product, the best producers do.
Without that ID it is very difficult to spot the difference.
Unless someone can tell !!!!

Omega General Help / Re: Steering Idler issue
« on: 08 March 2010, 19:44:25 »
Had the very same problem, I bought a complete 'steering idler unit' ie including the spindle which is bolted to the body, you never know where just the 'steering arm's' are from, good or bad.

Omega General Help / Re: Levelling light

The 'Catera' is 'like' a UK - V6 3.0/3.2 auto elite + MV6 combo, all the good bits plus one or two more.
There are some members on OOF, there are others on 'Yahoo Catera Owners'.
Regarding 'self leveling' pump under left hand wing (looking from the front)
There is a 'unit check test' detailed on the forum.

Omega General Help / Re: Strange Starting Problem
« on: 07 March 2010, 20:43:02 »
I here what you say, however it doesn't just fire, on all six attempts it starts on all 6 cylinders and would of bounced the needle of the rev counter given the chance.
On normal start it's as if on the first turn of the key there a 'break' in the electrics which is telling the ECU not to allow the engine to start, but that in turn clears the system for the second turn of the key - engine always starts on the second turn.
Traveled 850 miles last week, no other problem  :-/ :-/

Sent PM, many thanks.
Found the section in Haynes, disconnected, cleaned adjusted, things the same.
It's as if there is something not connecting on the first turn off the key, but as said always starts on the second attempt !!
Anything else I can try ??
