Omega General Help / Re: can you clear the EML
« on: 09 February 2008, 15:12:58 »
won't it clear if you disconnect the battery for half hour?
that used to clear my codes on my old astra ecotec.

I quite like the noise!!!
I keep getting people asking me what it is and i tell them its a supercharger (muppets actually beleve it) makes for a few shocked looks..

Could do with disconecting it though  is the plug easy to get to or is it a inner arch off job..
Lee

 ;D ;D  like it!

mine makes the same noise, i thought it was normal :-?

i don't trust the mfd, i try not to let it get below about 40ish miles range. the light comes on about 35 miles left.

i had the astra down to 12 miles range but the needle was sitting right on the bottom.

my mfd reckons average about 26mpg at the moment, i get about 100 miles to £20.

does that sound about right? :-/

the only problem i had when i did mine the other day was that the nuts were really tight. it took me about an hour and half to do the both links.

pretty straight forward though.

must be a common myth about warping cam covers, the garage i had that qoute from said they'd only do the job if i bought new covers aswell as the gasket set::)

well i had a qoute from a local small garage to do mine before i realised i could do em myself, they wanted £185 just the labour.
that's without supplying any parts or cleaning the breathers :o

why don't you give it a go yourself? it really isn't that hard if you've got a bit of mechanical experience, just a bit time consuming.

i did mine last week and it took me about 10 hours over 2 days with cleaning the breathers aswell and i've never worked on a v6 before.

print the guides off from the maintenance section, they're really straight forward and helpfull :y

how bad are they leaking?

72
it's a lot easier to do the gasket on the 2 ltr, i had to do mine on my astra sport and it took me about 2 hours in all.

welcome mate :y

what makes you think the head gaskets are gone?

don't know about the torque settings for head bolts but if you have a flick through the maintenance section i'm sure you'll find all you need to know in there.

I guess that would be because they are laying on my garage floor !  ;D ;D  but really  ... started by changing the HBV / oil cooler & plate but still leaked , after pressure testing could see a "Squirt" from the rear of the n/s head just below ignition module plate, Both heads were then removed (lovely job [smiley=lolk.gif]) i have to admit though i was quite suprised by the amount of "rot" in the gaskets

Lots of torque settings here ...any mising ones yell out and I'll look in the Haynes book, assuming a 2.5 V6 here of course ....  :)
