Omega General Help / Re: 2.2 Catalyst

Your replacement CAT, will be a ceramic type, and thus as pointed out, the reason for the labrynth breaking up ( maybe )

The more expensive CAT's have a stainless labrynth, these tend NOT to break up with impact !

Now you know why there are cheaper ones, and dearer ones   :o

I presume your £230 is for a pattern Cat !

That place near Mark in Nottingham, autoparts or something like that provided me with a pattern Cat for my 2.2 early this year, fitted a treat  ;)

Seriously though.

It might, MIGHT just be worth going in to a few dodgy/cheap bodyshops, and asking if they can dress the damage out !
OK it will require a skim of filler even if you find a skilled panel beater !

I'm fairly sure that split MIGHT tack/weld up enough for the damage to be dressed out.

Is the rear light area badly damaged, or is the damage limited to the actual flat side of the panel !

You never know, someone might do it for £300 or there again you might get laughed out of the bodyshop suggesting / asking if it can be beaten out !!

I'd try mate, if you like the car, BUT as you have contacted the insurance now, your fairly buggered !
Even if you buy it back, it will be listed as a CAT C ( minimum) for the rest of its life and will show on any HPI check ! You will also have to have the car VIC checked too as it now going through the insurance !
The Insurance aint gonna fix that mate, i'm fairly certain!
But if you do buy it back, you will HAVE TO adhere to guidlines now, and that will involve a VIC check to get it back on the road !

Absolutly NOT bolt on !

The rear  tunnel or wheel arch area is the strongest part of a car !

If you are going to repair it, i would NOT mess about, have it done properly, and if it is done properly you will have to have it VIC tested before it can go back on the road ?

This panel will require an aligning machine or jig ! If the car is repaired on the cheap, and its ever in another accident, AND an engineer see's this repair ( which he will do) you f***ed !
Have it done properly or NOT at all mate

I know Jamie !

Just that i'm such a lazy git , erghhhhhh mean i'm so busy, i havent managed to get time to come over to you as you live soooooooooo far away in Brackly  LLOLL

Perhaps after Xmas then !

I was toying with the idea of having Cruise fitted too, kill two birds with one stone as it were !

Which stalk am i looking for off of EBay !! Left or right as i am sure i have seen both with exta buttons !

Also as i have a face lift i presume i have to have a stalk ( which ever one ) taken from a face lift donor car !!

Mines been playing up for a while, but different syptoms !

Sometimes car will crank a few times before firing, but little engine electrics light comes on !
Turn car off, re sart and its fine !
Car will always start, and even exceed 3000rpm, with light on , so from what i have been told the car isnt in limp mode !

This fault only occurs at random intervals, as i'm not in a hurry to replace the crank sensor, after Taxi Drivers description of its removal etc ! on a 2.2

So woulld anyone like to diagnose these sypmtoms on my 2.2 ! I was told before it might be crank sensor too, but the symptoms are slightly different !
