Got the cambelt kit etc the other day but forgot to get the bl**dy antifreeze DOH :( Can anyone pick some up for me on trade club and i'll square up with them on saturday please, its the red one

I just received my order and autovaux kindly decided to send 1x5l of antifreeze as they didn't have 3x1l (which i'd oredered) in stock. This means i'll have some 2l spare to share  :y

try maps.google.co.uk and type in your post code then TF11 8SD for destination. it's already got the address and gives you directions which could also be printed.

Kevin, as a newbie can i nominate myself :D? could be a warm welcome gift ;)

Also, anyone bringing a breaker or something? Ordered a front wheel hub together with the cam kit + water pump today but don't have a powerful wrench for it :(. My torque wrench max is 210nm, is that enough for the bearing nut?

Autovaux has next day delivery (£7) and even Saturday morning delivery (£13 - possibly even to the meet?) in case someone's missed something.

Thanks for the quick response. I think the front hub doesn't need any other parts (replacement for disposables, etc.)?

Also do you think I would need to change the water pump? The car has done about 65k now most of which (since 28k which it was when I bought her last year) is motorway. If yes, would it be nice to change the thermostat as well?

tnx.

oh and btw, is anyone bringing a Tech2? i have the occasional spanner light coming on every now and again which i would like to investigate.

Hi everyone. I saw this thread very early when it started but almost forgot about it as i had to move house and all the rest of it.

Do you guys know somewhere I could buy my cambelt kit so that I receive it by the end of the week, just in time? What about $tealer$, any good on price?

I also need to change my front wheel bearing. Anyone's got a long breaker (1m or so)? more importantly where to get the bearing in the last minute? ... yeah, i know i'm always like that :(

I could bring in pair of axle stands, a tiny jack and my small set of handy tools. Also have experience of changing the cat, brake pads/discs and wiring up an amp/cutting parcel shelf (for 6x9s) on new shapes if someone needs to.

one last q, what sort of time r u looking to start the day and are there still nearby accommodation available? could we camp in the place in a sleeping bag?

tnx and see you all soon :)

How would I go about getting the keyboard out would like to clean under there, also whats the best stuff to clean it with?
The keyboard is pretty much a sealed unit on a lappy, look at paying around £40 or so for a replacement.

electrical contact cleaner maybe? you can use compressed air cans to get rid of dirt as well. you can take the covers of the keys off by carefully levering your nails and pulling it upwards. bigger keys might have a metal bracket behind. be careful as they're easily damaged.

if you're going to take keys off, try it on a rarely used key first, e.g. print screen or context menu, just in case you damage it  ;)

Keyboard will come out as a complete unit, the older Dells where easy to take apart, with letters underneath next to screws not sure if the more recent ones are as good

Cant see any screws, don't really want to pay 40 quid either  :(

The screws might be in different locations. Best to check Dell website to see if they have any how-to guide in their support site for your laptop. Many motherboards have a memory slot under the keyboard, so if there's a guide on adding/upgrading memory it will most probably describe how to take the keybaord off.

Gee £199 is cheap!  :y not sure about the coach travel though! I'll have to check if they have an accommodation only option too as a half board hotel itself would be more than that!

What I usually find best is to get a 5+1 ski pass where you can ski all week at your local resort plus one day at the rest. Can't be bothered spending couple of hours on the lifts to get to the other resort and back more than once  ;)

Went to check that out yesterday with a few mates, its a tad further to drive than Milton Keynes, but its new so thought would go see what its like.

The slope is not as wide as MK, but the snow is soooo much better, all soft  :) Has not got the huge chunks of ice that MK has.

Paid £27 for 'two hours' but like MK they don't bother to check passes, went in at 2, went out at 5:30  ::)

Needed a bit of a tune up, not been snowboarding since January, all came back to me, looking forward to hitting the Alps in 6 weeks  8-)

As for indoor slopes, Landgraaf in Holland still wins hands down!

where to? still undecided where i'm going this year.

im on my phone but couldn't resist: i got money out of atm on a saturday and the receipt says i have 300 left. i got money out of atm on sunday and it says 300 left!! then got charged for going od cuz i only had 300 in account on friday but the computer doesn't update balance over weekend ! who's fault is that?
The only way you can truly lose track of what you have is if you have hundreds of thousands at the least, monetary levels that don't make at least 3 zero's on a weekly basis aren't going to confuse anybody IMO.
I used a debit card for a £10 transaction--5 months later I had 3 small direct debits returned unpaid costing me charges of £105.The DD's were for £1.99 each, I checked the day  before and had about £9 in account, never have much in anyway, however the debit card transaction from 5 months earlier had come out overnight thus resulting in £105 of charges for a total account activity of £16.The limitation on debit card transactions I was told is 6 months from the date of purchase.

You don't need a vast amount in you account to lose track when things like this occurr.£105 is twice my weekly Carers Allowance and nearly all of my wife's Incapacity Benefit.

I learnt my lesson, if places don't take cash they don't get my business.

Plus another £28 at the end of next month for going overdrawn--£133 in total

 >:( >:( >:(

I am lucky enough to have accountancy knowledge and these days I use an application to keep track of my finance. BUT, people don't need to be accountants to credit an "accounts payable" for a £10 transaction which pops out of nowhere in 5 months time!!

£133 charge for this amount of money is ridiculous. Now tell me if you still think this is fair because he's signed the T&C!

i went over drawn once, they refunded me when i queried it. Asked if i wanted an over-draft setup (i had none before) its now set at £250. Charges are a pain, but i don't see why they are 'unfair'
i went 38p.....38p, overdrawn couple of years ago...and the bank charged me £38!!!!! how the hell can anyone call that fair!!!! >:( >:( >:( >:(

I'm with ^^^^  :)

And back to my note about taking money out of atm, if you have say £300 in your account on Friday no matter how much money you take out on Saturday/Sunday (obviously less than £300), unless they've changed it since it'll still say you can withdraw £300 on the receipt when you take out cash or balance enquiry. IMO this is bank's problem not mine!

Funniest of all Barclays send a letter and said because this was your 1st OD, if you don't go overdrawn throughout next year this will automatically be refunded. Not only it didn't, but also they gave me bull$hit when I mentioned this a year later!!

Another thing which is unfair is when they decide not to bounce a check or DD just to make your account go overdrawn and then charge you for going OD!

And finally not everything is fair just because you've signed a T&Cs agreement. Unfair terms in an agreement, even after you've signed them, shall meet the requirements of The Unfair (Contract) Terms Act. If you read your bank's T&C you'll notice they have the right to charge you if you go OD, etc. and the charges may change from time to time. They can charge you whatever damn they please for going OD and this is what's not fair.

Yes you should be in control of your money at all times, but this doesn't take away the responsibilities of teh bank towards you.

I now  have an angry face >:(

Yeah, just seen this, does seem to go a bit against the grain of rulings at the moment, but then the poor old banks have got to recoup some of their losses I suppose ::)

oh yeah >:( : take a look here
