Omega General Help / Re: Engine cut out whilst at high speed
« on: 13 May 2008, 21:26:04 »
Where are you mate?  Please update your profile. There might be someone near you with a trade card.  Autovaux might be able to help, but make sure that the part you buy is genuine Vx.  Pattern ones are no good  :(

Omega General Help / Re: Front Multi Ram

I agree.  Front multi-ram at 4000k, Rear one with massive vacuum from low revs

I know it's  a PITA, but could the water pump have dissintegrated?  obviously not siezed as cam belt would have stripped.  Some pumps have been known to lose all the impeller blades.  This would lead to cooling problems.

Omega General Help / Broken cruise control
« on: 10 May 2008, 14:07:45 »
I've found out why my cruise has stopped working - the yellow ribbon part in the motor body has snapped  :(

Is this a replaceable part?  or do i need to source a replacement actuator?

I belive they are prone to leaking where the solid pipe passes from the engine bay through the bulkhead.

I don't know what year your car is, but dodgy hazzard switches are common on pre-facelifts and can give rise to faulty indicators.  Best get a new one if it's playing up.

Omega General Help / Cruise stopped working
« on: 06 May 2008, 23:46:38 »
Comming home on the motorway the other day, being nice and legal and frugal at about 65 mph, going up an incline, the cruise suddenly dropped out and now wont engage  :(

I guess i need to check the pedal switches for continuity.  The end of the bowden cable is still attached to the throttle body.

Any other bright ideas out there?

No error messages or warning lights.

Would it be advisable to replace with a 53 plate elite? ;D

Omega General Help / Re: Dual ram sytem
« on: 31 March 2008, 23:31:21 »
If you can see the rear ram opening breifly when reving the engine, all is ok as it is vacuum load dependant.  With the engine off load i.e on the drive the required vacuum load is only there breifly not like it would be if you had you boot on the floorboards when driving.

Omega General Help / PAS pump is dying
« on: 31 March 2008, 20:51:55 »
The PAS pump on my facelift 2.5 is dying.  Almost no assistance at idle revs, but ok when at 1000 rpm+.  Fluid level ok and it's not F14.

The questions are:-
1)     how much of a messy pig is it to change
2)     Are all V6 pumps the same ( and is it the same as a 4 pot one?)
3)     What would I reasonably expect to pay for a good used one and has anyone got one?

Omega General Help / Re: X20XEV. 7.1 MPG when accelerating
« on: 30 January 2008, 05:23:55 »
Those figure seem low.  I had a 2.0 auto estate and averaged (according to the MID) 23 mpg with 30 on a motorway run
