Omega General Help / Re: Brake squeal
« on: 13 September 2007, 16:31:18 »
Thanks for all your replies, I have no idea if they are VX pads or not, I'll ask the garage. They also fitted new sensors and charged me for them even though I have a GLS which doesn't give me any info on the state of them  :(

Omega General Help / Brake squeal
« on: 12 September 2007, 18:16:51 »
Hello,

My brakes were squealing and I also found the advisories for my last MOT (before I got the car) which said the discs and pads were getting on a bit. I got the front brakes and pads changed a week ago and the brakes have started squealing again. Is this just part of the bedding in process and it stops after a while or was something not done right?
Thanks!
Andy

Well I've just been to the breakers - a 5 min walk away and they only had one Omega and 2 of us tried for 15 mins to get the bonnet open but failed! Not sure what to do now, has anyone got one from a car that they're breaking?!
Cheers!

Omega General Help / Another broken pipe
« on: 16 August 2007, 13:32:26 »
I was just about to start the task of cleaning my breathers and to fix the split pipe I had when I saw this:

Not totally sure how easy it is to work out from the picture, but the larger pipe coming from the ICV has a smaller one branching out from it and it is at completely the wrong angle and has been doubled back on itself and has broken and is only just hanging on  :o

Looks like I'll have to replace the whole lot, what problems could this have been causing? also does anyone have a  part number and an approximate price please?
Thanks!

Omega General Help / Re: Gear change thump
« on: 26 July 2007, 07:51:41 »
Just been to an autobox specialist and they quoted £88 to get the fluid and filter changed and the codes read so am thinking of attempting this myself. I don't get any codes with the paperclip test, are there different codes for the gearbox that only Tech II can read?
Also does anyone have any part numbers for the gaskets?

Thanks!

Thanks for everyone's input, seems I need to change the fluid then! Can someboday tell me where these sumps are, (a photo would be amazing!) where I stick me dexron III and if an idiot like me can manage this?

I had the firmware updated a few months ago, this has only really just started happening. The actual sound isn't that horrible, it's the sound of my wallet straining when I think it's an expensive problem that I don't like  ;D
I haven't changed the oil and filter, looked at the how to but looks a bit much for me, especially without pictures...

Omega General Help / Gear change thump
« on: 24 July 2007, 10:47:08 »
Recently when changing up gear - I think probably 2nd to 3rd and especially in sport mode, and when the engine's cold the change will sometimes be accompanied by a thump which doesn't sound too good.  :'(
Hopefully something cheap and easy?  :-/

It was the one under the TID, without looking I believe it was a spanner in a circle. Does that sound like the gearbox warning?

Omega General Help / Limp mode?
« on: 29 June 2007, 11:36:33 »
I think I experience the limp mode yesterday  :-/ I just set off and the car had no power but the revs were really high. I noticed that a light was on - presuming EML? I rebooted the car (I work in IT support) and it went off and all was fine again. When I got home I did the paperclip test while engine running and when not and got no fault codes. Is this anything to worry about? or could it just be a one off?
Thanks,
Andy

Leave EGR valve on plenum and disconnect at flexible metal pipe.

I've read other people saying the same thing about the EGR valve and was wondering why this is the recommended way of doing it? I couldn't disconnect mine at the metal pipe so took it off the plenum. Did I do a bad thing?  :-/

Mine does the same, driver's side also. Is it doing any harm? or can I just leave it and put up with the ticking while cold?

I've seen a site somewhere showing you how to repair these yourself. I can't find it with google at the moment, hopefully I have it bookmarked at home - I'll have a look this evening.
