Omega General Help / Re: HID bulbs
« on: 26 May 2010, 09:53:47 »
Following on from what Jimbob has said i thought i'd give u a full explanation from a wholesaler -

PHILIPS PATENTS

HID XENON REPLACEMENT BULB
D2S  (2PCS)

Color Temperatures:

4300K - Extreme White
4300K has an approximately 3100lm output, which is more than 3x the light output of the traditional halogen light and is the color temperature with the most output. The light appears fairly white, and has light yellowish hue when reflected off the road identical to the OEM HID equipped vehicles. It is ideal for customers who do a lot of back road or canyon driving and need the optimal visibility.

6000K - Diamond White
6000K has an approximately 2900lm output, which is 3x the light output of the traditional halogen light and slightly less light output compared to the 4300K. Although it has a bit lesser light output, it emits pure whiter light with a slight tint of blue.

8000K - Iceberg Blue
8000K has an approximately 2500lm output, which is about 3x the light output of the traditional halogen light and slightly less light output compared to the 6000K. While it has a bit lesser light output, it emits bluer light than the 6000K. This is one of the most popular of all color temperatures by customer demand
[ch12288]

12000K - Violet Purple
12000K has an approximately 2000lm output, which is more than 2x the light output of the traditional halogen light. This color temperature puts out a deep bluish violet light and is deeper colored than the 6000K. It is for customer who is looking for the more extreme and more exotic looking light output.

30000K - Purple or Dark Blue
30000K has an approximately 2000lm output, which is more than 2x the light output of the traditional halogen light. This color temperature puts out a deep bluish violet light and is much deeper colored than the 12000K. It is for customer who is looking for the most extreme and most exotic looking light output.

[ch12288]

Please note: most customers have a common misconception that the higher the K (Kelvin temperature) the brighter it gets, but in fact, it's the opposite. The K rating is inversely proportional to the light output.

Hope this helps u decide  :y

i have got hold of a set of fox racing 18" wheels without tyres after some advice from andyb on here i went to check the et of said wheels only to find that the et number is missing ? how can i measure the et of theis wheels . tryed google but got confused so nice laymans turmes please

Hi. There are a number of 'Fox Racing 18' wheels, do u know which they are?

Are you just purely after knowing which tyres are best for the wheels?

If so then Fox Racing takes ''215/35/18''

Recommendation for Omega on a 5 stud is as follows :-

TYRE SIZE : 225/45/18

OFFSET    : 35 to 45 et

PCD         : 5 x 110

Does this help?  :-?

Oh joy of joys!! Oh thankyou God!! My misfire has gone to the cemetery & is dead & buried!!  :y :y :y

For all you poor soles, especially me old mucker John Lewis, who have had to endear my woes concerning my everlasting misfire of ''2'' bloody months, i am glad, no exstatic, to announce that i've been to the 'doctor' and have now been given a clean(ish) bill of health  :) :) :)

The original dis pack was put back onto my mig & with the new spark plugs & ebay(?) leads i'm now back in the world of motoring  :y

The 'only' problem i have now is that the cats are foocked as pointed out by Captain Zok back at Easter BUT as my wallet is totally & utterly empty & my MOT isn't due till March 2011 i'm really not that bothered so there  :P

John, try a dis pack cos u might, just might, solve the same problem as me  :)

Omega General Help / Re: Exhaust Back Box
« on: 21 May 2010, 12:36:32 »
I too replaced my backbox on my 2.5 with a sebring box, not that the original one was knackered, i just fancied reliving my youth & bought it off ebay for £40 (£425 new! & a life time guarantee!)  :y
Cost me £30 to get it welded on & looks/sounds the bees knees without it being too over the top sound wise like a cherry bomb  :o

Looking forward to hearing that note again once my cars ''illness'' has been diagnosed  :'(

Looks more like what i used to wear when playing cricket ..... :)

But there again i'm just a fussy 'old' man  ::)

Omega General Help / Re: CONFUSED, DOT COM.
« on: 19 May 2010, 18:28:14 »
If i was u my friend, i would email/write to them again telling them that u have been in contact with ur solicitor who has advised u to inform them of 'The Sale of Goods Act 1979' which among other things states the following -

Fitness for purpose, s14(3)
If the buyer expressly or impliedly makes his purpose for the goods known to the seller, the seller is obliged to make sure the goods provided are fit for that purpose, if it is reasonable for the buyer to rely on the seller's expertise.

I have quoted this numerous times to 'snotty' erchins who have tried to fob me off with ''sorry no exchange or discount if the packaging has been tampered with'' - how the effing heck are u supposed to see if they are the correct parts unless u open the effing packet/box  >:(

They are only too willing to offer a discount or swop once the 'Law' has been quoted  ;)

Good luck  :y

drilling would only be safe if there is enough parent material.

measure the outside diameter of the bush inner sleeve, where its bonded to the rubber. If it's the same as the other side, you could attempt it. If it's not the same, then a return is your only option.

just think on - if you'd had an accident and ended up in court - the judge asks you how come this wishbone failed, causing you to leave the road, squashing that bus-queue of nuns - the only possible answer you would have is that you'd drilled it out. That's not going to look good !

especially now that you've announced your intention on the web....,!

Mmmmm i've looked in my diary & i will be overseeing proceedings on the day ur up in the dock  :-/
so as i have the evidence & ur admitall in writing .........  :o

As for the nuns at the bus stop may i suggest u don't make a HABBIT of it!!!!  :D ;D :D

Omega General Help / Re: gunk
« on: 19 May 2010, 18:07:54 »
I'll probably be shot down in flames from the 'governers' on this site  :-[ BUT i've owned enough V6 migs with leaking rocker covers (as long as its not p*ssing oil  :o) to say that as long as u keep a watchful eye on ur oil level then a 500mile should present u with little probs  :y

Just remember that ur wishbones are going to make ur braking shudder so try not to be heavy footed on the brakes unless in an emergency  :o

The choice, as they say, is all yours  :-/

« on: 19 May 2010, 17:14:48 »
If you have only been doing short journeys then u will get white yoghurt on your filler cap so if you are going on a long trip you should notice that when you have cleaned off the gunk its gone  :y

Do check that u havnt got oil particles in your coolant tank or/and water drops on your oil dip stick cos that cud point to HG problem  :'(

As for your front wishbones u will notice wear on your front tyres & the car will shudder when u brake hard  :(

As for Wynns stop leak DONT waste your money cos it WONT  stop the rocker gasket covers leaking  :(

70
Have u checked the coolant level for loss of water  :-?

71
Have a look under the scuttle n/s. Is there any water in there? There's a grommit right down at the bottom where muck (for want of another word!) settles and needs to flow out. Only place it can go is normally into the passenger footwell. So get your hand as far down as u can (unless u have fat fingers!) & see if u can feel the gromit if not i used a long screwdriver until i pushed the gromit out followed by mucky water. Then u can give it a good clean whilst the gromits dislodged  :y

On the other hand it cud be your HBV leaking but first things first  :)

Omega General Help / Re: ET - does any one know??????

Mark will tell me off for this - as, you should eliminate things properly... but, For £37, I would (did) just replace the damn thing :y

Ahh but did it cure the problem? (as my doctor would say!)

My problem is this - i'm as much use as a chocolate fire guard when it comes to mechanics & i thought in my wisdom that it would be far easier for me to unplug something than to replace something  ::) :-[

74
According to the advise of MarksDTM the following was written -
'A crude method for testing your DIS pack is to unplug the knock sensor and run the engine, the retarded timing will result in a higher voltage being required to ignite the fuel and hence a weak DIS pack will often miss fire'
Does anyone know if BOTH sensors have to be unplugged or will just one suffice  :-?

Cheers for the reply but i've already been advised on that but as the car hasnt been driven for the last 2 mths cos of the misfiring/stuttering/running rough & i've got another dis/coil pack thats been tested & is ok then i'm not that worried if the pack attached dies a death  ::)

Just wondering if anyone cud post a diagram to where i can locate the knock sensor to unplug it as described by 'Marks DTM'  :-?
Bank 1 knock sensor plugs in just above the cable tray that goes across cambelt. Bank 2 plugs in to plastic cable tray across passenger bank, near oil filler

Cheers for that, much appreciated  :y
