I had a problem like this, someone who owned the car before me put some new backplates on but instead of doing the job properly they just chopped them in half and fitted them.
I had to strip both sides and fit new bearings too, the hardest job was getting my hands on some backplates. they are like rocking horse s**t

I`ve used all German parts and they were really good. I live close to the shop and was talking with them the other week and they were really helpful.

Omega General Help / Re: 2.5 td. or 2.2 dti. ??????????
« on: 15 January 2011, 16:03:34 »
I`ve got the 2.5td and to be honest its the best car I`ve owned. it has done 165000 mile now and it still runs sweet as a nut. I might be tempting fate here but I have never had any problems with the engine since buying the car 6 years ago. It even tows a caravan from Leeds to St Ives a couple of times a year with no problems. So I`d say pretty good reliable work horse!!!!!

Omega General Help / Removing the Cat
« on: 13 November 2010, 16:56:09 »
Hi all
Just wondering if taking the cat off my 2.5TD would effect the car at all.
Don`t want to put a new one on as its broken up inside, I`d rather just put a pipe through but dont know if it will throw any fault codes or anything up.
Thanks

Omega General Help / Re: 2.5TD Overheating breakdown :-(
« on: 08 November 2010, 11:06:09 »
I had the same problem, it did it every now an then and it ended up being the fan belt tensioner that was flicking up and jamming so the belt wasn`t being turned. The trouble I had is everytime I turned the engine off it flicked back down and re tensioned the belt so it took me ages to actually see the problem.

Hi
I thought this was normal for the omega, mine has done this since i bought it 4 years ago.
I can be in first gear not touching anything just on tick over, then I put the pedal to the floor, nothing hardly happens for a few seconds then it accelerates away really quick. If I do the same going up a hill I normally have to press the clutch give it some revs and off it goes.
I have it chipped so its like it really takes off but reading these posts maybe there is something wrong??????
Any ideas
Thanks
Forgot to add, it also does it when its warm too!!!!
