Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: NCDC 2015 and phone help
« on: 17 July 2010, 22:41:55 »
This navigation disc is made for a CD70 headunit, not the NCDC 2015 mate  :(

Cheers Cliffo  :)

But there is no nokia brackets for my N95 8Gb... The 1DIN phone module looks interesting... I like the SMS support option :p

64
Never seen this cable before...
Normally, how much pins do have this Nokia phone module connector? What do I need to install one properly and how do it? Is there a "how to" present on the OOF?

Not sure if this will be of any help, but the opposite end of that cabling (same plug) may be found tucked up under the parcel shelf, just behind the BOSE amp plastic housing.  It's on both my Elite's (Mini FaceLift, so may be completely different).

So, why are the mic wires in this connector...?

That looks like the prewiring plug for AFTERMARKET phone kits, not the one for the telematics unit that fits in glovebox...

BTW, there is no electrical/electronic different between NCDC2013 and 2015.  The only difference is the legend printed on 2 or 3 of the buttons.

Do you have already seen an aftermarket phone module with this connector? Which?
You mean I can use a NCDC 2013 with a Nokia phone module...? Absolutely no difference between the 2 headunits?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Nokia phone module... Again!
« on: 13 July 2010, 00:51:02 »
Hi all!

I have now a NCDC 2013 with a colour CID screen.
I want to install a Nokia phone module on my car...
I know I have to swap for a NCDC 2015 headunit but I don't know if my car is precabled for all that or not... I have found a genuine GM mic installed on the courtesy lamp with a 2 wires connector plugged. I have also found a 18 pins connector behind the glovebox with the mic wires in it... Is that the right connector for a Nokia module?

Couple of pics...

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the help mate, I will check that maybe tomorrow  :y

An extra amp? I think no... It's a "classic" Bose soundsystem for the facelift.

The Bose system does include an external amplifier, it is in the plastic tray in the boot under the rear parcel shelf.

The speaker coils can't be cleaned, any grittyness you can feel is caused by the voice coil rubbing on the magnet. There is normally a rubber diaphragm between the speaker cone and the magnet to stop dirt getting in so if there is any grit in there it is caused by the voice coil self destructing. :(

AAAah you mean THIS amp... Yes I meant to say that there is no other amp except that one (it's the only Bose one)... So finally if I find a faulty speaker, I must to replace it  :'(

Ok Dave, so I will check the front doors first... With a little bit luck, they only need to be cleaned  :P

Fairly common, and is probably a sign that one of the speakers is failing.

When the speakers are run hard over time, the voice coils in the middle heat up and cause the "glue" to expand and melt. Eventually this rubs on the insides of the speakers and restricts the movements in and out - a sure sign of this is that they can fel a little "Gritty" if gentle pressure applied.  If run in this condition, they can crackle, often very loudly and if continued to run in this condition can seriously damage the head unit and amplifier as the lack of movement will be seen as a short circuit. If you are very lucky, as I belive has happened here, the amplifier will detect a problem and shut itself down very quickly and will not restart until all has settled down and cooled down.

The downside is that I would check / replace the offending speaker BEFORE you play it again, as if left uncheked, there is a very good chance that the head and amp will be seriously damaged.

 ;)

So you think that I have to check all the speakers and replace the eventual faulty one? How do I recognize a faulty speaker? Do you think there are speakers that burn out faster than others? Thanks for the help Dave  :y

I listened to the radio today, volume not too loud... and suddenly there was a big "CLACK!" in the speakers that scared me, then no more sound! I have tryed the FM radio, a music CD and the GPS, all worked fine on the screen but no more sound at all... I even restarted the headunit without success...  I thought of a blown fuse... So I parked, locked the car and gone... When I returned, I turned the ignition on, the sound came back and everything is back to normal by itself!!

I don't understand... Any ideas/comments ?
My setup: NCDC 2013 with CID colour screen and Bose sound system.

No problem mate, If you need more help, just ask  :y

I HAVE an Omega 2003 and I HAVE a Valeo automatic lights on/off installed on it and all work perfectly, no CAN bus present on the lighting wiring, don't worry ;)

Dany....
I found that a liberal spray of WD40 on the connections helps, as does putting the unit in a plastic bag!!

Really? In a plastic bag? So the next time when it happens, I'll do that ^^
