yes, it's a funny old thing - drifting. from what I can tell, its a competition to see how sideways you can go, but I cannot for the life of me see the point in that. Being sideways isn't really big or clever, it just shows poor car control as far as I'm aware.

its very much on the extreme edge of motorsport where, quite frankly, it can stay !

I have a set of "plod" springs that I took off a car - when emptied of all the equipment, they add at least two inches to the ride height - they're seriously tall and seriously stiff.

don't do them any favours - just go in at something like £1400 as a starter and maybe compromise in the £1000 region.

or just tell them to buy you another one

I've found a couple of dead V6 alternators if anyone fancies a practice. Yours for the cost of postage

put very simply....

the BOSE system uses a special amplifier and BOSE choose 2 ohms for the speakers. In turn, the BOSE-equipped head unit puts out only about 1/3 volume when turned right up, as this is what their amp is expecting.

The normal head unit will blow up the amp and those speakers because it puts out too much volume.

it is possible to keep the wiring from the front to the rear, but only if you change all of the speakers to 4 ohm units and also change the sub-woofer speakers as well. you must then re-wire from BOSE amp to another amp. That's ten speakers.

considering the BOSE system sounds absolutely ace - it really isn't worth changing IMHO. Especially as you'd be stuck with a nasty after-market head unit poking out of your dash

One thing to consider when comparing with FWD cars is that the weight distribution of a FWD car will be further forward than an Omega's. This may well mean that the braking has to be biased further forwards, making a larger brake setup at the front necessary to provide equivalent resistance to fade.

the last time I weighed an Omega I got 885kg front axle, 585kg rear axle - which was a bit of a surprise to me !

It might be worth a pm to Serek on here. He's got a few options depending on wheel size. I have 18's that will accept Audi Q7(huuuuge great bus) front callipers and 359mm discs. But they won't fit 17" wheels.

I have them installed under 17" wheels here

Omega brakes are amongst the very worst that I've tried on any car. They maybe suffer from three faults.

1. just not big enough to sink the energy of a fast-moving Omega

2. poor front caliper design, leading to brake disc distortion

3. too much front bias as standard ( but I can kinda see why they did this )

As a first stop, try adjusting the brake pedal to take some of the slack off the top.

Then, get new front discs. Irrespective of the mileage on yours.

that's probably all you can do with the standard set-up.

as a bit of an aside, in the days when I ran standard-sized brakes on the Omega track-day car, I would need to change to new brake discs maybe every three hours of track-time.
