Pop the plug in a low oven for a spell and try again. Assuming you have spark of course ;)

Wouldn't it be quicker in the microwave?  ;D

Well you learn something new everyday.

So basically what you're saying is that limp isn't confined to automatics, moreso engine problems.

General Car Chat / Limp mode - manual transmission Omega
« on: 21 December 2020, 18:35:26 »
Having an aversion for automatics (always been a dark art as far as I'm concerned) I much prefer manual transmission, because at the end of the day it's basic mechanical engineering. With the inclination and enthusiasm, any problems (clutch / bearings etc) can be done in the comfort of one's driveway / workshop, whereas most auto problems require an exchange unit. Anyway, forget the background waffle.......

I came across this on Gumtree -
https://www.gumtree.com/p/vauxhall/vauxhall-omega-mv-v6/1392668883 , the seller saying it's in limp mode?

Forgive my ignorance, but how would a manual transmission car go into limp mode?

The power sounder may also be the cause if it is still present

Strange goings on indeed - seems no logic. Can you (OP) confirm if powersounder is still fitted?

On one of my cars, they're starting to peel and disintegrate, so it's also something I've been looking at for a while.

I'm guessing the subframe needs to come forward to be able to remove / fit them? With the fuel tank quite hard up against the back of them, there's little in the way of clearance.... or am I just missing something?

Tiff Needell doing electric cars.

.....followed by a car crash prog which I just happened to come across whilst channel hopping - an 03 plate Omega GLS estate being used as a skid pan test car.  :'(

Garage whipped cover off to find chain broken - that's now one more Astra consigned to the breakers.  :'(

Working estates are still properly useful cars, and will be in use for some time still. Owners know how hard they are to replace, so don't expect them to change hands. Which has been true of estates forever.

Very few car models break this cycle!

Especially if they are estates and have got 3 pedals!  :D

Petrol. I'm only involved from a distance, but I also suspect it's kaput... age, mileage, history, etc. Just wondered if anyone knew much about them, and how it could be diagnosed without taking it apart.
