Omega General Help / cam timing
« on: 01 August 2011, 16:13:51 »
Hi guys
Been looking into trying to reduce my fuel consumption, so i went into looking at the valve timing, found that cams 3and 4 are out by a say lees then a tooth but not spot on, cams 1 and 2 spot on, car runs, bit lumpy, im unable to bring the cam spockets into line by turning the tensioners, tensioners turn until they are slack, have the dvd and cam timing kit and have followed the dvd to the letter, im just lost on the timing of the cams, don't fancy having to take belt of again as i found its a pig to get this over 3 and 4 cams, could someone tell me were i'm going wrong  :( :( , having to use old belt, tensiners which are wearing but belt is no more then 5000 miles old, as had the belt and tensioners replaced last year and have the old stuff to hand  :y :y

Omega General Help / Re: Petrol Good - Bad - Indifferent
« on: 31 July 2011, 17:56:37 »
Hi
another question in relation to what better fuel  to use is what oil do you use, and how often do you change it, doing oil changes more often due to the fact that your car is used for short journeys like me makes for better fuel comsumption as well  :)

Hi mate
I have found this as well, my 25 v6 will run lumpy on the bloody tesco s**t or other supermarket crap and seems to run hotter, done a month using shell, ok more expensive but car runs like a dream, more responce, and slightly better fuel consumtion, this should improve as time goes on, i will be using shell for now on  :) :)

Hi
No you don't need to take heatsheilds off, just need several extension bars and feed through from the rear propshaft bearing to the front, dead easy and alot quicker  :y

Omega General Help / Re: pull to the left
« on: 29 March 2011, 06:12:06 »
Hi
Just thinking of something, am i right in thinking that the rear caliper piston needs to be in a certain position before refitting pads, it has a cutway on the piston, if this is wrong would that cause this to pull to the left  :-/ :-/, next will be the wishbone to come out, fingers crossed  :-/ :-/

Hi
thats right, pulling to the left under braking very badly when you slam them on, so the left front caliper is working so i thought my problem was with the right, this checked out fine when i took it apart, along with disces and pads  :-/ :-/ and rolling brake test
No accident damage to the car  :-/ :-/
I was thinking of taking the wishbone out on that side just to check  :-/ :-/

Omega General Help / cam timing
« on: 20 February 2011, 22:46:01 »
Hi guys
I have an issue with the mig, i can only achieve about 11 to 12 miles to the gallon around town, i would of thought i could get more then this and feeling under powered, have done before, first thought was the thermostate?? not working as pervouis post, this is ok but very little heat inside, hbv valve suspect, temp gauge takes abit to climb then i thought when i change the cam belt last year i found it hard to release the cam locking tool on the right side, red side i think, having to use force to get the bloody thing out, have i retarded the timing guys, whats the best way to reslove this, have the dvd and laptop to do but still unable to  get this right  :-[ :-[ :-/ :-/

Hi guys
Thanks for the replys, lazydocker you say that it could be the theromstate??, would this cause the car to run cold until normal driving brings in hot water, is their some sort of coolant sencer for this bearing in mind this is the x25xe with spark plugs, no fault codes listed, was thinking of blanking part of the rad of to test, or checking the cam, car was doing at least 23 miles around town and a good 32 on a run, i think i have killed it by short journeys  :'( :'(
