Could it not just simply be that the battery in the fob is knackered or have you replaced already?

Hi again,

can anyone tell me the size (M2, M4 etc) of the bolt which holds the loom support (rectangular box thing) to the front cambelt cover please? I've lost mine unfortunately. By the way, if anyone has a spare support and bolt to flog I'd be very grateful. Can't post yet on the wanted/for sale section yet.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Antifreeze
« on: 02 March 2010, 21:04:44 »
I bet this has been answered many times but here goes anyway:

Got my meega back today after having a job done. The guy had to drain the coolant, which was a nice clean pink but now seems to be a bit purplish. Possibly he's not drained completely and topped up with the blue stuff. Is it ok to mix pink and blue antifreeze or should I drain and refill with the pink next chance I get?

Cheers

Omega General Help / The old oil chestnut

Hi,

I believe the Omega uses 10W/30 semi synth oil is this right?

Was wondering about Chevron 5W/30 fully synth. This is available in 25 litre drums from Costco quite reasonably. I've used this many times on all of my Jap stuff in the past and its fine. Both the better half's Rav4 and Son's Rover 75 V6 should be ok to run this stuff but was wondering if my 2.2 Omega would be ok with it. One drum fits all you might say.

Any thoughts?

Omega General Help / Re: 2.2 & 2.0 cylinder heads
« on: 06 February 2010, 08:22:30 »
OK, maybe this will be of help to some of you guys at some time. I contacted the local dealer and got the part numbers of the 2.2 & 2.0 heads and they differ:
2.2 R1230075
2.0 R1230054

What the actual physical differences are (if any) I don't know but it may not be a good idea to buy one for the other without a physical comparison first.

Cheers

I do ask some wierd questions at times but I'm sure there's a boffin or two on here who knows.

problem is I may need a replacement head for my 2.2 if it cannot be repaired (long story) but the 2.2 seems to be thin on the ground secondhand so was wondering if the 2.0 is the same.

Does anyone know, just as a matter of interest, are all 2.2 cylinder heads the same regardless of year?

Thanks

Yeah, thanks guys.

I thought about both of these. The oil and filter were changed when I did the cambelt in October. I may try the lifter treatment and I guess another oil change cannot hurt.

What seems strange is the fact that the noise only begins at full running temp  :-? Lifter problems are 'usually' worst when cold - unless anyone knows differently. I may just take the front cambelt cover off and have a visual inspection to check all is well there before I go much further.

Any further help/suggestions would be appreciated.  :y
