I haven't checked any pipes inside the car so will have 'feel' about. Can't believe it is so cold when you feel the heat in the pipes.

Omega General Help / Heating question
« on: 11 December 2012, 18:23:26 »
Hi all

Sorry I have searched and this subject has been covered on a few occasions but I am still confused. I know the Omega heating is not great but mine is warm at best. Engine temp is fine, but the air from the vents even on 26 is not very warm and the rear vents in the console are ice cold. I had the engine to temperature and checked the pipes from the expansion tank to the bulk head they are very hot so plenty of heat there just not much in the car. All the flaps seem to be working fine in the centre console when you divert the air from screen to face to feet.

I had a new rad fitted about a month ago but its never been great to be honest, I am loosing no coolant and had no oil cooler issues and the water is nice and clean.

I have massaged the pipes as suggested in case of an airlock but has done no difference.

Would this be a blocked heater matrix or HBV (whatever that is) I drove back from Luton today in a coat.

Again sorry if this has been done to death but, not sure what to do as I am no mechanic apart from take it to the garage.

Thanks in advance for any help or advise you can give.

I have a 2002 2.6 CD and had the same problem, as others have said, £30 for a stalk and a chat with Tech 2. Easy to fit takes about 20 mins and I am no mechanic the wire by the way is folded back on itself just below the multi plug, cant remember the colour though, but its pretty obvious.

I was down at the local Vauxhall dealer a couple of weekends ago looking at Corsa's but remarked to the sales guy that I liked the Insignia VXR, in the blink of an eye he offered a built to order 2012 model, 6 week lead time, Sat Nav automatic hatchback for £25,000, including full tank of fuel and first years tax, 100k mile, 10 year warranty on the road. As its being replaced may have something to do with it, but still. Pretty sure if I had ordered there and then could have got the full sport leather upgrade thrown in.

To say I was tempted is an understatement they wanted £12.5k for the Corsa Active!

We spoke to our friends in Louisiana on Skype yesterday they are absolutely horrified Obama got in again, known them for 10 years and never seen them so down and dejected.

Omega General Help / Re: Time to change a 2.6 V6 Radiator change

Just gone back to the garage and they are going to advise tomorrow, did admit it seemed a bit excessive for the labour side.

Many thanks for quick reply, got to be honest that's what I thought maybe 2 hours tops they replace a lot of rads, can't see it being a difficult job with the straight forward configuration our cars have. I shall enquire.

Thanks.

How long does it take to change a rad on a facelift V6, mine split and the garage I used replaced it but they charged me 4 hours of labour which included adjusting the hand brake, before I go back to them to query I thought I would ask the forum, I am no mechanic but it seems excessive.

Thanks Pete, they are not grey so therefore must be what I call beige but described as cream.

Many thanks for clearing this up.

Good day all

What were the facelift trim colours available? I have the beige interior on the CD was the Elite leather the same colour or was the elite offered in other colours apart from the charcoal and beige?

Reason for the question is that I have seen a leather interior describe as cream and the photo I got sent it looks pale but then that may be the camera and sunlight.
