Omega General Help / Re: Rear Camber
« on: 09 February 2013, 10:44:26 »
this is interesting as my steinmetz is 35 to 40 mm lower and my rear tyres are fine it does have toe in at rear more than a normal one does but she set up very well at WIM ,maybe there was more done to her when built than meets the eye ?

back in 1999 i got very ill ended in hospital, long story short i suffer from ulcirated colitus if left untreated it can kill, ihave tests every 2 to 4 years as my risk of colon cancer has gone up by about 200 % i also have blood tests if i start to feel unwell, if you get offered a test take it but be open minded its not an exzact sceince and if they think you need a follow up go for it a false alarm is better than catching it to late, ps for all you guys 50 or over go to your docs and get a blood test for prostrate cancer takes 5 min could last a lifetime if you get my drift.

must admit i had to put a side light bulb in my suzuki grand vitara you would think being a 54 reg and still a proper jeep that some thing as simple as a side light would take  mins ,ye right you have to take grill trim off then take out the headlight to get at it,daft,

just had a superb hours run back from WIM after having geometry set up properly, much better no tramlining wheel straight and she doesnt wander with the camber, she wasnt to far out but the idiot that tried to do my tracking local to me made it worse.i was starting to think id done it when changing the top mount that failed but no all my work was spot on,as shes sits lower than a standard omega settings slightly different than the norm but wow what a difference.
so big up to tony at WIM knows his stuff. and very good price

gave WIM all the info on car everything up front is new at back she has bilstein shocks no air, also told them what wheels and tyres fitted fronts are pirelli rosso and were new 11 mths ago when i replaced all suspention as i wanted her to go round corners lol,all was good for 6 mths thinking back also did both back wheel bearings , as i only use her at week end or if going up lincs to see my mum i didnt drive her enough to worry to much ,alittle tram lining on crap roads where lorrys sink the tarmac, but when the tracking was done it made it worse and again when i took it back, there is no adverse or uneven wear on tyres.also have an anoying knock very slight from i think rear nearside but have checked again and again nothing worn and rear drop links changed, only on bumpy roads or potholes starting to think it maybe exhaust .old cars dont you love them,

General Car Chat / Re: Winter tyres dangerous
« on: 02 February 2013, 20:27:22 »
just alittle something to add to the pot,my employer and his wife have bmw,s an as they are well balenced are crap in snow and ice the last two years i had winter tyres fitted to both some bargain appolo,s on one and some expensive michilins on the other and they are superb the appolo,s have worn slightly more than michlins. a local taxi man i know fitted winter tyres to the front of his volvo to save money i did warn him he didnt listen as he had been driving since adam was young enyway he spun it out.lesson learnt.
i leave the steinmetz at home and use my jeep when it snows lol

ive just contacted wim for numbers for geometry set up so a company near me who sets up porshe and lotus can set mine up,i too have now got an off set steering wheel since my tracking was set up twice not going back there, this was after replaceing a new top mount that failed at 1 year and 7300 miles but i was very careful to not move geo on strut, so think the tracking caused the cock up and shes not right to drive now,she sits 40 mm lower than standard elite think thats where the tracking prob has come frome its been set to factory and shes far from that lol. on winding a roads feels like shes trying to tuck in on corners. :o
