Omega General Help / Re: 2,4,6 coilpack
« on: 03 February 2019, 13:12:28 »
There is a supposedly new but unboxed 2,4,6 Bosch 0221503473 coil pack for a Vectra available here for £29 delivered. Looks a bargain to me.

PM me your address, and I'll send you one that I bought new about 4 years ago.
Key(which be any use to you), remote and immobiliser chip.

You will have to get the car programmed to it, but that's true of any replacement
PM sent, thanks.

You could try the Bosch Aerotwin Retrofit.
A front screen twin Pack = 24" (600mm) / 19" (475mm) AR24U / AR19U. They're available for not much more than a set  Bosch or GM originals blades.

The only issue is that the nearside 19" blade does not completely follow the windscreen curve in the lowermost parked position, the end does not quite follow the edge curvature . However both blades do properly clear the normal swept area.

Not to mention that the Loctite 5699 is grey, not black.
The GM sealer also goes solid in the tube if left for a while.

There are at least three UK sellers on ebay. The first two in the list are:

nevlockperformance @ £6.74

Vauxhall-Superstore-UK @ £6.95

Search for the part number rather than the KAT number, so GM 90485251. Looks like around £7 delivered.

Omega General Help / Re: Battery replacement
« on: 23 January 2019, 18:40:06 »
Got a correct spec. Yuasa Silver battery from The Battery Shop, Swindon with a spec. of 80Ah and 760A and a three year guarantee. With the right spec.it made such a difference - so getting the right ' high numbers' on your battery is worth it.

It's that 760 CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) spec that's important as opposed to the nominal battery capacity. If your old battery was below spec on CCA, even if good on nominal capacity, then you would probably notice a hesitation on cold starts. 760 CCA exceeds the spec of the factory original battery options.

It also highlights the real value of the so-called warranties that folks are persuaded to buy. £500 to get the engine replaced in any car is just unrealistic, would it even cover the labour? So there are shed loads of compulsory excess, wear and tear deductions and the like that have been deducted.

If you want/need to buy anything from ECP then first check their ebay shop where it will always be cheaper than direct from the ECP website, despite the discount codes. You can do a pick up at store. That said ECP are rarely the cheapest source.

£350 sounds like a full fat dealer price even for an AGM battery. I would have thought a Varta or Bosch equivalent is about half that.

Omega General Help / Re: Crank sensor

The GM 90540743 sensor, that you likely need, either from GM/Opel or Bosch should be a Bosch 0 261 210 131. If these prove pricey then maybe consider a Valeo aftermarket which apparently comes with a 5 year warranty @ £23.72 delivered. Please see here. Valeo product is all over European made cars.

I meant a pic of the one that's on the car at the moment. It could be a Siemens or a Bosch. More likely to be a Bosch. The GM part number might or might not be on the sensor head, but it will always have a Bosch logo and Bosch numbers of some description. At least if it's a factory original as opposed to aftermarket.

See if you can post up a pic of the numbers on the sensor, to aid positive ID.

I believe that part number is for earlier V6 with a rectangular connector. Yours should be either 90492061 (Siemens) or more likely 90540743 (Bosch). These have oval sides on the connector so they won't fit the rectangular type. The Siemens and the Bosch are not interchangeable even though they will both fit. The only way to reliably tell whether yours is Siemens or Bosch is to look at the numbers on the sensor head.

I don't think that the sensor with the rectangular side is fully compatible with the oval versions.

Omega General Help / 2 button key fob not working
« on: 17 January 2019, 16:43:31 »
Yesterday out of the blue wife's key wouldn't open the doors. The little red led on the key is not lighting up. It's a later two button fob where the shell separates from the key. Car is a 2003 CDX estate, 2.2 16V.

I changed the battery but still doesn't work. If I press on the top of the battery then the buttons work. The battery holder seems not to be securely attached to the circuit board underneath. Pressure restores contact.

So removed the circuit board and it seems that the earth side of the battery holder has fractured where it is soldered to the circuit board. Two small for me to solder. Especially as it's on the bottom of the battery holder.

So I guess I need a new shell with circuit board? What do I need to buy and what's involved in programming it to the car. I still have the transponder chip in the key section.

Thanks,
