A pig to repair MIDs.
I think I'd be looking at retrofitting the newer, single grey plug model, as your chances of finding a good, early, twin plug one are next to zero.
The early ones such as yours arnt very reliable and are incompatible with the newer, better ones.
They are repairable

I think you are missing the point ....
You say the TC does not work .. by knowledge and feel ...
You say the bulb never illuminates ... ever no matter what switching is made... or on ignition on.
Therefore .. if bulb has been removed (or blown) it cannot illuminate.... if it WAS illuminated it would indicate a fault in the TC that TURNS TC OFF ... which is .. probably .. why it doesn't work.
My money is on the previous owner removing the TC bulb to hide a known fault ....
Moral .. check all bulbs illuminate at ignition switch on when buying a car ..
QuoteQuoteQuoteQuoteQuoteBecause i've had many vx's with tc and can tell when it steps in without a light telling me it is.
If its like the abs system the bulb makes up part of the circuit so no bulb = no worky
That was my thought hence the question
funny though as the ABS does work, but no light :-/
thats not going to help come mot time
Neither will having no cats.

QuoteRe number of rocker gaskets:
There are two different types, I assume they swapped at some point from one to the other.
One type has 4 seperate gaskets (total) to do both banks (2 gaskets per bank), and the other type have 2 gaskets (1 per bank)
If you get the replacements that is 1 gasket per bank they will slot straight in however the other type will need a "bridge" of sealant putting in the gasket channel on the cam cover in 2 places to join the 2 together.
This will become apparent when you have the covers off
Chances are that if your replacements look small you only have replacements for one side.
Just looked into it more its 4 separate ones vaux do them in pairs though for £6 each
