If you are worried about the one in February .. then don't read about this one .....

:)  :)  :)

This one says 14 million km but could hit but the other is 17000 km but safe. I guess the timing makes the error on this one so much larger. Come back in 20 years and reassess!

Not as bad as the Range Rover @ 9.5 litres of oil per change!

Sorry, was in a bit of a rush last night so just posted the tip-off and legged it.

Yes, oil filter is for QX oils. Should be fine if you change it every 5k miles as I do, although I was buying this for my other car rather than the mig. You get a filter for every 5 litres of oil you buy up to a maximum of 5. The promo code I used was BIGDEAL31. Think that's the price reduction one.

No idea on an XJR but must be more than 5 litres so might as well get 10!

Yeah, I'm feeling fairly chuffed at the moment. Hope it isn't a fake website otherwise my credit card is about to be hammered!

Chaps,

Thought you might be interested in this.

Just seen on another forum that Eurocarparts (no affiliation) are doing a deal. If you buy a can of oil they give you a free filter too. I just went on and bought 10 litres of oil with 2 of the most expensive filters I could find and when I checked out it not only gave me the filters free but also gave me 30% off! Got the lot delivered for £27. Not bad.

The deal runs out on Sunday, I think. You can up to a maximum of 5 filters. Wonder if I should have bought more? Oh well!

All the best,

J

Could it be the start of an idle valve bypass issue?

2.2 does not have an idle control valve  :)

Sorry! My bad. Must have been late. Was thinking of the Idle Air Control Valve on the 2.0 litre.

Should have had the V6!

I've noticed mine seems to run a little hotter with the climate control on ECO. Weird, eh? Other than that it doesn't sound too far out.

Omega General Help / Re: Door wont shut
« on: 26 September 2012, 23:42:30 »
Hi, thanks for reply. yes the door closes fully but will not stay shut. when I pull latch down with a screwdriver it flies up again but on the good lock it stays down. Regards, keith.

You could try taking the door card off & giving the whole mechanism a good dosing with a decent lub, failing that, I reckon it'd be easier all round to just swap for A N Other complete lock assembly. It's the 3 torx drive bolts on the side of the door & a few rods etc inside the door. Not too difficult, just make sure you drop the vertical rod from the outer handle in its correct 'hole' before you bolt it all back up again ....... or you'll have to remove it again when the outside door handle doesn't work!  ::)

Might I suggest leaving the boot open during the operation? Just in case a lever gets left off by mistake and all the locks SLAM down at any stage with the door closed. It's been known to happen!

Is there not a scrappy near you? I get mine from one near here and they've all been great - and only £20!

I second TheBoy. Have you checked the wheel bearing? Yes, likely to be when turning one direction.

Morning all,

I had two Omega estates for around 11 years-the first for 9 years and the second for 2 years.. As far as I am concerned there is no direct replacement for them. I'm not fussed on BMW's or Mercedes. I ran them side by side with my Range Rover for 5 years-towing wise the Omegas were  as good as the Range Rover-but funnily enough there was only a couple of MPG different whilst towing. With hindsight I should have kept my Elite estate and lpg'd it (the wife used it the most for local journeys and at around 19mpg it cost quite a lot-replaced it with a £200 Fiesta which has been superb for the last 18months and does 35mpg around town.)

No other estates out there take my fancy so when it comes to replacing the Range Rover I'll get a newer model.

Regards

Steve

Same engine, I suspect. If you were towing a caravan the frontal area would be similar too so similar fuel usage to be expected, even with the extra gearing etc on the Rangey.

The other morning I came out to go to work (around 7am) and a DVLA van was driving all around the estate with a camara on each corner (like the Google car) taking pictures of every vehicle he could find. Even went into to doctor's surgery and filmed a car behind a bush. The tinkers are looking for cash!
