They should be 16"  on a mini facelift and 17" on the facelift.

That makes mine the wrong size then  :o
If yours is the one in the pic it is a cdx which does have 16" wheels as standard it is only the elite and mv6 that had 17's

I wouldn't think they would fail it just for that but it wouldn't look good turning up with a fault so obvious and so easy to rectify.

Omega General Help / Been quoted £86 for headlamp washer jets
« on: 20 February 2008, 21:49:13 »
Hi Picked up a 1998 MV6 at the weekend but the headlamp washer jets have been twocked.
The local dealer has quoted me just over £86 and has to order them in.
Is it possible to get them any cheaper anywhere else as they seem to be hard to get second hand.

Cheers

Omega General Help / 18" wheels what offset is needed
« on: 06 February 2008, 20:23:11 »
Hi
I'm thinking of buying a set of 18" alloys, what offset is best for the omega and what tyre size would be right.
The wheels would be 8x18".

Cheers

Omega General Help / Re: From V-power to Shell 95 ron

To go back to original question if your car was remapped while running on v power I would stick to super plus fuel as the fuel map set points will have been changed in the ecu.

With higher octane fuel it burns better in the chamber giving a stronger explosion and therefore needs less fuel to give the same performance, the lambda sensor in the exhaust will tell it what fuel air mixture is going in through the gas coming out and adjust the amount of fuel to suit.
When driving with a heavy foot the consumption will not change or may even drop so it only really works when cruising on motorways etc.

I don't know exactly but my mate runs his transit and an old diesel corsa on it, I think he mixes it with a bit of parrafin to make it burn stronger.

I'm not sure how a modern diesel would react to it otherwise I would have it in the wifes. if anyone has tried it let us know if it works.

Crap fuel is destroyer of most tuned engines with out a doubt cossies especially as they don't have knock sensors, fortunately I have a fully programmable water injection system on mine which I can adjust to suite if I'm stuck and can only get low grade fuel. I also lower the boost just to be on the safe side.

In most other countries v power is 100ron compaired to ours which is now 99. I could tell a difference in performance in my old mv6 on optimax as it was at the time and that was 98 ron I think. I have had my cosworth tested on a rolling road with tescos 95 and v power HUGE difference :
95 ron - 374bhp
v power - 406bhp
Don't know if it makes a difference on economy it drinks it too fast to tell however my wifes merc 220 diesel does an extra 50 - 60 miles per tank on v power diesel and seems more responsive trouble is its now £1.11 a litre so chip fat from now on I think.

Omega General Help / Re: 255/40/17 rear tyres
« on: 03 December 2007, 18:03:15 »
Sound like I'm better sticking with the 235's it was just an idea. I think the wheels are 71/2" but I will have to check again.
I used to have a 740 bmw with 235 fronts and 255 rears but the wheels where 7" & 8" saying that my wifes has got 245/40/17's on 71/2" amg rims on the rear and 225/45's on the 7" fronts which are the standard fitting from mercedes.
