Correct DG!  :y The RB211 will be around long after any aircraft powered by them 8)

Non afterburner Olympus too...

Most of my work was with GE Tornados and Typhoons, ALL aerodirivatives. RR and Siemens not so much so.
Loved it!

Yes Lizzie, but then the 'mini' reactors are the size of a couple of football fields!
They are better than what we have got at the moment.
Nuclear has gone waaaaay ahead since our outdated 1950/60's technology and much safer.
Not in this country though!

CCGT's can run on oil and gas. Jet engines basically.
Thank you Mr Whittle!

The way we profligately use power for everything cannot continue.

Nuclear is the ONLY way to GO! Everybody else is doing it (in europe) as we buy their electrickery from not so far away.
See Here!

https://gridwatch.co.uk/

I worked latterly on CCGT,s and nuclear as a fully qualified instrument engineer (DG will know what that is) but you can see which provides the most power for our needs at this moment. GAS AND OIL (Yea Yea) I know what you are going to retort!

The usual "the horse has been out a few weeks ,best close the stable doors " approach  ::)
The UK should not have stopped PCR tests for incoming travellers, mandatory mask wearing and social distancing in shops.

Correct!! When I went through Gatwick on an hour and a half stopover on the 1st December, half the people in the airport were not wearing masks!
It is not the GP's fault for idiots not complying with the rules. They have to deal with the crap the antivaccers, non mask wearers etc don't bother their arse with.
I have just done 10 days quarantine up here in Krankie Land AND a PCR test.

GPs should be doing their normal jobs, which is diagnosing patients and organising the necessary care. Covid is being used an excuse to limit their exposure to the shitty bit of any business: seeing customers face to face.

Up here in KL all the volunteers are ex nurses, doctors etc administering the jabs to relieve the professionals to do their proper job.
We cannot go to a GP or hospital and demand a covid jab!! end of.
What is wrong with you lot daan saff?

Hello fellow OOF'ers,

I still have my Omega Elite 2.6, unlike a few ex-owners on here. I still love her.
She is sitting in the Strathspey Steam Railway Aviemore car park as usual (before anybody wants to go up there and nick it, there is CCTV covering it!)  >:(

Anyhoo, I am still in Mallorca, getting back to Scotland on Wednesday 1st December.

However my timing is shite as usual, as BoJo has changed the entry conditions on the 30th Dec. I had ordered an LFT last week and have had to change to PCT at the last minute, what a long winded exercise that is!
Inside leg measurements etc!

I just hope the old girl starts up ok (not the wife STEMO!) I have one of those quick release battery conns and extra battery in the boot. Just in case I need a jump start as most of my pals will be in the pub at 9.30 in the evening!

I will report in next week to report updates!  ::)

Cheers,

Jock (not pc!  ::))

Now surely I should be up in arms, as referring to yourself as Jock excludes me, as I'm not a Sweaty.  There will be outrage!

I demand a vigil, and us English should superglue ourselves to the M74.

;D

Love it TB   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :y :y

Jock the sweaty.

Well, if you will watch the BBC, thats what you will get. GB news for me now.

I was only checking in as it were le Frog!  ::) ::)

Re: news. I will/have been watching local Spanish news for years and you get a far better grasp on news outside this country. Especially the UK.
Varche will vouch for that.
No BS, just their take on it.

Cheers,
Jock.

Hiya! fellow OOF'ers.  :y

I have just been watching the BBC 5 o'clock news here in Mallorca.

The whole news content was reporting racism and climate change in that order.

Re: racism, the cricket world was devastated? when there was a remark to a pakistani player being called a paki! excuse me! it is only an abbreviation of pakistan ffs. Cricket officials have had to resign through 'political' pressures.
I worked in Pakistan for nearly 6 months and I was called more names there than being called Jock as I was in England! Did I give a F? NO!
This racism thing is getting way out of order in the UK. Let it overwhelm you and there will be big problems.
Does anybody say anything? sweet FA! because you will be called a racist!
Now where have I heard a similar story in the 1930's but with a different theme?

Re: climate change.
Doom and gloom.
It is a BBC thing, and if anybody bothers looking back to my earlier posts (many years ago) you will know what I think of that corporation. (inside knowledge)
AND to wind up the CC debate in Glasgow, guess who gets some airtime? Yep, its Greetin Greta! wtf?

Cheerio from Mallorca,

Jock.  8)
